Helen M. Shutt, 88, of Orwin, passed away Tuesday night at her home.
Born in Orwin, July 28, 1924, a daughter of the late Preston and Minnie Gongloff Paul.
Helen retired from the former Masonwear Factory, Muir.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City and AMVETS.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, John C., 1972; a daughter Marie Herandez and a grandson, Charles Rickert.
Surviving are two sons, Preston J. Shutt, Rising Sun, Maryland and John R. Shutt, Sr., Orwin; one daughter, Linda Rickert, Newport; 13 Grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City with the Rev Linda Bonfiglio officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery Orwin. Military Funeral For John Shutt
Military Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon from Stewart J Dreisigacker Funeral Home for John C. Shutt, Jr., 53, of 342 Dietrich Ave., Orwin, who died Sunday morning shortly after admission to Good Samaritan Hospital, Pottsville.
Born August 6, 1919, at Williamstown, he was a son of John and Annie Lemke Shutt.
He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Reinerton; a veteran of World War II, a member of Orwin Gun Club, VFW of Williamstown, Tower City American Legion, Tower City Moose, and was treasurer of United Mine Workers 1551, Reinerton. He was employed by TRW, Harrisburg.
Surviving are his widow, the former Helen Paul; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Baez, Lebanon; Mrs. Linda Eiler, Orwin; two sons, Preston of New Castle, Delaware, and John of Jonestown; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Kennedy, Williamstown; Mrs. Arlene Heinbaugh, Baltimore, Md; two brothers, Lamar of Manheim and Clayton of Baltimore, Md. There are nine grandchildren.
The Rev. Robert C. Kistler, his pastor, officiated. Burial was made in St. Peter's Cemetery, Orwin.

     Preston J. Shutt Sr. was born on 7 September 1939, Ashland, Schuylkill County, PA.2 He was the son of John Clayton Shutt and Helen Mildred Paul.1 Preston J. Shutt Sr. died on 19 April 2015, Rising Sun, Carroll County, MD, at age 75.2

Preston J. Shutt Sr., 75, of Rising Sun, Md., passed away Sunday surrounded by his loving family.
Born Sept. 7, 1939, in Ashland, he was a son of the late John and Helen Paul Shutt.
He graduated from Porter-Tower High School in 1957 and went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering in 1961 from General Motors Institute in Flint, MI. Preston continued working for GM in Wilmington, DE for 35 years, retiring in 1992 as the Superintendent of Industrial Engineering.
Preston loved hunting, fishing, and taking the family on camping trips to the beach and the mountains. He also played football, winning a football scholarship in High School. He also loved playing and coaching softball; playing well into his 60's. He coached both the GM Women's and the Grace Lutheran Church Softball teams; taking the later team from last place to first place in one year.
The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the Amedisys Home Health and Hospice Care staff for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time; with a special note of thanks to Brianna and Kathy.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of almost 55 years, Hazel; son, Preston J. Shutt, Jr. and friend, Janet of Millsboro, DE; 2 daughters, Judy D'Antuono and husband, Tony of Princeton Junction, NJ and Janet Wilson and husband, Tim of West Grove, PA; 6 grandchildren, David, Sarah, Christopher, AJ, Amanda, and Jessica; 2 great granddaughters, Desiree and Avery Rae; brother, John Shutt; and numerous nieces and nephews. Including his parents, Preston was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Ann Shutt and his two sisters, Marie J. Hernandez and Linda I. Rickert.
A service was held in Preston's honor at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 24 Cameron Road, North East, Md., where family and friend invited to visit. The family invited everyone for continued celebration of Preston's life in the banquet hall at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911. Born in Harrisburg, June 23, 1944, she was a daughter of Helen M. Paul Shutt, Tower City, and the late John C. Shutt. She was a graduate of the former Porter Tower High School.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are a daughter, Carmen Perez-Padilla, Portland, Maine; a sister, Linda I. Rickert, Orwin; two brothers, Preston J. Shutt, Delaware, and John R. Shutt, Tower City; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Linda I. Rickert, 64, of Newport, formerly of Orwin, passed away Thursday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Tower City.
Born in Orwin, Sept. 20, 1948, she was a daughter of the late John and Helen Paul Shutt.
Linda was a graduate of Porter Township High School. She graduated with honors from Harrisburg Area Community College and from the University of New Mexico, where she received her master's degree.
She retired from the University of New Mexico, where she was an English professor. She was also an accomplished author, and had many of her writings published.
Linda loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she also enjoyed reading.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Charles Eiler, in 1969, and Marshall Rickert, in 2009; a son, Charles Eiler Jr; and a sister, Marie Hernandez.
Surviving are a son, Lonnie Shutt; two daughters, Teri Eiler, Pine Grove, and Stephanie Rickert, Lancaster; two brothers, John Shutt, Orwin, and Preston Shutt, Maryland; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Following Linda's wishes, services will be private. Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Identification of William is not certain. Baptismal records at St Paul's Lutheran Church in Tower City list her father's name as "William Henry Kiehl." The birth certificate lists his age as 20 years, his birthplace as "Mahantongo," and his residence as Porter Township, Schuylkill County. It possible that he is the William Henry Kiehl, born November 14, 1884 in Upper Mahantongo Township and died October 13, 1949 in Tower City, who is buried at Greenwood Cemetery, Tower City.2,5,6,7 She married Chester Oliver Adams, son of Edward Adams and Violet Shadle.1 Elsie Rebanna Adams died on 11 October 1976, Berks Heim, Reading, Berks County, PA, at age 70.8,9

Mrs. Adams was born in Tower City. She had been a machine operator at the Rachman Manufacturing Co. before retiring in 1967.
Surviving are a daughter, Joyce, wife of James Ebersole, with whom she lived; two grandchildren; three great two sisters, Millie, wife of Gordon Brown, and Betty, wife of LeRoy Donton, both of Tower City.

Funeral services were held today at 1 o'clock from the Auman Funeral Home. The Rev. Fred S. Forester officiated with burial in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reading.

Grand Ave., Tower City, who died Friday morning at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from the chapel at Corl Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City. The Rev. Gary Bumbarger, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church, Tower City, will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Tower City.
Born in Porter Township, he was a son of the late Roy and Lottie Hand Brown.
Mr. Brown was an Army veteran of World War II, having received the Purple Heart.

Warfield.1 Raymond John Paul married Dorothy Mae Hummel, daughter of John Henry Hummel, on 25 February 1945, Honolulu, HI. At the time of their marriage, Raymond was serving in the 972nd Signal Service Battalion of the US Army, and Dorothy was employed in the Signal Section of Hickam Field HAD.4,5 Raymond John Paul died on 17 January 2009, at his home, Bel Air, Harford County, MD, at age 84.2,6 He was buried on 20 January 2009, at Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery, Baltimore County, MD.7

Born in Orwin, he was a son of the late Ida Mae Warfield and Harold Paul.
He served in the Army for 51/2 years.
He retired after working for Bethlehem Steel.
He was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association and former member of the Antique Auto Club of America, Harford Region.
His hobbies included filming his family on video and his antique 1961 Pontiac Bonneville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Paul; four brothers, Harold Warfield, Hubert Paul, Howard Paul and Ralph Paul; and a sister, Annie Barton.
Survivors include a companion, Theresa Law; a son, Rich ard Paul; two brothers, Ronald Paul and Delbert Paul; three sisters, Bernice Machamer, Regina Brilhart and Glenda Geist; and three grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edmund Brilhart, 2011; seven brothers: Harold Warfield, Hilbert, Howard, Ralph, Raymond, Delbert and Ronald Paul; one sister, Anna Barton.

Ronald C. "Curly" Paul, 82, of Elizabethville, passed away Saturday at Harrisburg Hospital.
Born in Orwin, Feb. 2, 1934, he was a son of the late Herbert and Ida Warfield Paul.
Ron retired with more than 30 years of service with the former AMP Inc., Williamstown.
He was a member of Williamstown Fire Company, Williamstown American Legion, Williamstown Veterans of Foreign Wars and Tower City Loyal Order of Moose.
Ron was an avid outdoors-man, enjoying hunting, fishing and gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marva Paul; a sister, Ann Barton; brothers, Harold, Hilbert, Howard, Raymond, Ralph and Delbert Paul.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald H. Paul (Donna) and Robert Paul and two daughters, Wanda Caster (Brent) and Dianne Morrell, all of Williamstown; his companion with whom he resided, Bonnie Hammaker, and her children, Scott Hammaker, Gratz, and Pamela Hammaker, New Cumberland; 10 grandchildren; 21 greatgrandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bernice Machamer, Tower City Regina Brilhart, Reading, and Glenda Geist, Williamstown; nieces and nephews.

Born January 25, 1909, at Minersville, he was a son of William and Ella Spein Barton.
A retired miner, he is survived by his widow, the former Anna Paul; two sons, Terry of Reading, and Joseph Zurat, Orwin; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Rose and Mrs. Eleanor Mickey, both of Minersville; three brothers, Robert of Minersville; Abe of Walcott, Conn., and Ronald of Milton, Del.
