    KLINGERSTOWN - Gilbert Eugene "Gib" Troutman, 87, of 140 Main St., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008, at his home. He was in ill health for several months.
    He was born March 29, 1921, in Hebe, a son of the late Joy and Elsie (Troutman) Troutman. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alma Jean (Davis) Troutman, whom he married on Jan. 30, 1943.
    Gilbert was a decorated World War II veteran, having served in the Army for three years.
    He was a ceramic tile setter, truck driver and mechanic. He was last employed by Troutman's Sunoco in Klingerstown, retiring in 1986. He also did road maintenance work for Upper Mahantongo Township.
    He was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Klingerstown, the Klingerstown Fire Company and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2385 of Lykens Township.
    Gilbert enjoyed snowmobiling, yard work and landscaping.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children and spouses, Jim and Myra Troutman, Judy Shade and Dale and Yvonne Troutman, all of Klingerstown, Sheila Troutman of Holiday, Fla., Kay and Mike Wharton of York Haven, Vicki and Jerry Narlock of Box Elder, S.D., and Elaine Artz of Hegins; 10 grandchildren and spouses, Chris and Denny Schwalm of Hegins, Clint Troutman of Klingerstown, Kylene Troutman of Valley View, Cliff and Dawn Troutman of Pitman, Tara and Aldo Scrofani of Westfield, N.J., Kori and Brian Nye of Hegins, Cher and Jon Davis of Lancaster, Jared and Nicki Narlock of Biloxi, Miss., Brandon Narlock of Box Elder, S.D., Tyler Artz of Hegins and Colt Troutman of Klingerstown; 14 great-grandchildren, Brock and wife Kristin Troutman of Hegins, Beau Troutman of Valley View, Dylan Schreffler and Haley Schwalm, both of Hegins, Jade and Jordyn Troutman, both of Pitman, Chasity Davis of Lancaster, Kelsey Schwalm of Hegins, Jakob Davis of Lancaster, Justis Troutman of Pitman, Aidan Nye of Hegins, Alessandra Scrofani of Westfield, N.J., Stella Nye of Hegins and Cayden Narlock of Biloxi, Miss; two great-great-grandchildren, Hunter and Hogan Troutman of Hegins; six sisters and spouses, Pauline Wiest of Klingerstown, Margaret and Walter Harner and Joanna and Claus Wiest, all of Sacramento, Helen Erdman of Sunbury, Thelma "Doll" Bohner of Pillow, and Shirley and John Klinger of Valley View; one brother, Marlin Troutman of Berrysburg; sister-in-law and spouse, Norma and Paul Shiffer of Klingerstown; and nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, Harry and Hattie Davis, three brothers, Paul, Carl and John Troutman, and son-in-law, Gary Shade.
    Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Barry Ridge officiating.
    Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Klingerstown.
    In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the St. Michael's Lutheran Church Memorial fund, P.O. Box 71, Klingerstown, PA 17941, or to the VNA Health Systems Crossing Hospice, 21 W. Independence St., Shamokin, PA 17872.
    The Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, 1133 Ridge Road, Klingerstown, has charge of arrangements.

    FRANCIS V. KLINGER
    WILLIAMSTOWN, Dec. 1. -- Francis V. Klinger, aged 65 years, 4 months and 29 days, died at his home on West Market street, Tuesday, of last week at 5 A.M. from pneumonia, after an illness of three years. He was a resident of town 26 years and was the son of Peter and Rebecca Klinger. He was born June 24th, 1861 at Pillow. His wife preceeded him in death 22 years ago.
    Surviving are three sons, E. F. Klinger, Ohio; Morris Klinger, New York; C. C. Klinger, Tenn; two sisters [daughters], Mrs. Mabel Ryser of Camden, N. J.. and Mrs. Ira Clouser of town, also two brothers.
    Fraternally he was a member of the U. M. W. of A. and L. O. O. M. of Lykens. The funeral was held last Friday afternoon with services at the home by the Rev. J. W. Wolfe and tne Rev. C. Beamesderfer after which burial was made in the Fairview cemetery.

    After a lingering illness of three months from dropsy of the heart, Mrs. Francis Klinger expired Monday morning at eight o'clock, aged 39 years, 3 months and 12 days. She was born in Lykens township April 18, 1864 and was adopted by Daniel Baum of Uniontown, until she united in marriage with Francis Klinger Feb. 28, 1885 at Uniontown. Tne ceremony was performed bv Rev. W. G. Engle. In 1000, the husband and sons having obtained employment at Summit Branch colliery, the family moved to this place [Williamstown], residing on West Spruce Btrreet where all the neighbors have a good word to say of Mrs. Kingler [sic] as she always attended to her own duties, yet always ready to give a helping hand to the distressed. She was the mother of 12 children, 6 having been buried in Uniontown cemetery, and 6 remaining to mourn the loss of a tender mother, viz : Charles Edward, Mary [Elmer?] Franklin, Morris Howard, Mary Ellen, Peter Francis and Mabel May; also her husband and a mother and stepfather, Mr. Sheaffer of Dayton, and stepbrothers and sisters. Services were held Wednesday morning at seven o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. J. Kreisel of the Evangelical church, after which the funeral proceeded to Uniontown, where services were conducted by Revs. R. S. Brown and Kreisel. The pall bearers were Levi Boyer, Ed. Bingaman, Harry Moyer, Jacob Latsha, John Noblet and Jacob Hoffman. R. W. Day was the funeral director. Among those who attended the funeral from out of town were: John Schaeffer of Tower City, Richard Schaeffer of Dayton, Mrs. Wells of Wiconisco, Miss Cora Miller of Millersburg, and several others. The family has the sympathy of the entire community in their great loss.

    Mrs. Fietta Elizabeth Snyder, wife of John Snyder, died at her home in Lykens Township, near Short Mountain, at 3:10 A. M., Friday morning, March 18th after an illness of a week with catarrhal pneumonia. Her age was 69 years, 2 months and 2 days.
    Mrs. Snyder was a member of Hoffman's Reformed Church and was life-long resident of that Township. Mrs. She was a daughter of the late Peter and Rebecca (Minnich) Klinger, born in Lykens Township, January 16, 1863.
    Survivors are four sons and one daughterm Harry Snyder, Shamokin; Daniel Snyder, Lykens Township; John Snyder, of Harrisburg; Charles Snyder, at home; Emma, Mrs. William Messersmith, Enola; two brothers, George Klinger, Lykens Townshipamd Charles Klinger of Gratz; four sisters, Mrs. Sallie Hoffman, Gratz; Mrs. Charles Lehman, Elizabethville; Mrs. Cora Bohner, Hershey and Mrs. Milton Bufflngton, Lykens Township.
    Funeral services were held from the residence at ten o'clock Monday morning and further services were held in Hoffman's Reformed Church in charge of the Bowman Funeral Service. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Dr. C. P. Wehr, pastor of the Lykens Valley Reformed Charge officiated.

    SUDDEN DEATH OF MRS. EDW. LENTZ
    Mrs. Edna Snyder Lentz, wife of Edward Lentz, died last Sunday morning, February 13, between six and seven o'clock, while her husband was doing some of the farm work at the barn. She was not feeling so well on Sunday evening, but the following morning intended to get up and go about her household work. But when Mr. Lentz returned to the house, her spirit had passed away, having fallen asleep while she was alone, for the brief period.
    She had been troubled by a cough and a severe cold to some extent, during the week and in addition had a weak heart.
    Mrs. Lentz was the daughter of John and Fietta Snyder, nee Klinger, born in Lykens Township, March 26, 1888, baptized in infancy, confirmed a member of the Reformed Church at Pillow, April 21, 1906 by the Rev. S. P. Brown and united in marriage to Edward Lentz at Elizabethville, June 22, 1912, by the Rev. E. J. Heilman. The family had resided in town for six years, but have been living on the Raker farm, just east of this place, for the past nine years. Her age was 38 years, 10 months and 17 days.
    She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mabel, Mrs. C. H. Kline of Penbrook; a son, Harry of Lykens; also by her father and mother; one sisiter, Emma, Mrs. William Messersmith of Harrisburg; four brothers: Harry Snyder of Shamokin, John of Harrisburg; Daniel of Pillow and Charles who lives with the parents.
    Funeral services were held at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. C. P. Wehr, pastor of Salem Reformed Church, officiating, Services were held at the house, the pastor using the words selected by by the deceased during the past year for the text:"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."---Rev. 21:4. Interment was made in Maple Grove Cemetery.
    The floral tributes were: Spray of carnations, Husband and daughter; sweet peas and carnations, sister and brothers; slumber robe, mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snyder; spray carnations, Aaron Erdman and family; spray carnations, H. A. Kline and family, spray carnations, James E. Lentz and family.

    CHARLES D. LEHMAN
    Charles Daniel Lehman, age 83 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harvey Frank, Washington Township, Friday evening. He had been in ill health for some time. Mr. Lehman was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Elizabethville and had been a resident of this community many years.
    Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Frank, and a son, Charles W. Lehman, of Elizabethville; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
    Services were held from the Hoover Funeral Home, Berrys-burg, at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Rev. W. Z. Artz, pastor of the Lykens Valley Lutheran Parish officiated and interment was made in Maple Glove Cemetery, Elizabethville.

    Mrs. Sallie A. Hoffman of Gratz, widow of Lewis Hoffman, in a Harrisburg Hospital Tuesday evening at the age of afternoon, 79 years.
    Mrs. Hoffman was a daughter of Peter and Annie (Minnich) Klinger and was a native of Lykens Township. She had been a resident of Gratz most of her life and was a member of Simeon's Reformed Church of Gratz.
    Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Calvin Engle, Lykens R. D., and Mrs. Landon Hoover, Loyalton; nine grandchildren and nine pr.eat-grandchildren. Other survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Michael Bohner of Hershey, and Mrs. Milton Buffington, Elizabethville R. D; and two brothers, George Klinger, Lykens R. D., and Charles Klinger, of Gratz.
    Funeral services will be held from the residence in Gratz at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Rev. A. Levan Zechman, pastor of the Lykens Valley Reformed Charge will officiate and interment will be in the Gratz Cemetery.
