    M. Irene Dockey Queer, 87, of Sstate College, Queer, died at 12:20 a.m. Sunday, July 30, 1995, at Fairways-Brookline Village, State College.
    She was born Aug. 12, 1909, at Berrysburg, Pa., a daughter of the late David and Cora Kebaugh Dockey. She married Elmer R. Queer, who survives.
    Mrs. Queer was valedictorian of the class of 1925 at Berrysburg High School, and received a bachelor's degree in home economics from Penn State University in 1929. During World War I II she trained in art at Corchoran Art Gallery in Washington, D.C.
    She was a home economics teacher at Boiling Springs High School.
    She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and the State College Women's club, and enjoyed flowers and flower arranging.
    In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Marjorie Rose Thornton of Myrtle Beach, S.C; two sisters, Maude Bucher of Elizabethville and Hilda Miller of Gratz, Pa; a brother, Clyde of Hegins, Pa; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
    Friends will be received from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Koch Funeral Home, State College.
    The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Ruth Ann Campagna officiating. Interment will be at Centre County Memorial Park.

    ELMER R. QUEER
    Elmer R. Queer, 94, of State E College died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at The Fairways at Brookline Village.
    He was born May 26, 1904, in Johnstown, a son of the late William H. and Kathryn Rose Queer. On March 25, 1929, he married M. Irene Dockey, who died July 30, 1995.
    A graduate of Penn State in electrical engineering, he received a bachelor's degree in 1926 and a master's degree in 1928.
    A Navy veteran, he served during World War II and was retired from the Naval Reserve with the rank of captain.
    A professor emeritus of engineering research at Penn State, he began his career there in 1926 as an Elliott Research Fellow. In 1946, he became a professor and in 1969 he retired.
    He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and a member and past master of the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 700, both in State College.
    He was a member of the American Society of Naval Engineers, associate member of the U.S. Naval Institute and a member of the Cosmos Club in Washington, D.C., from 1951 to 1959. He was a registered professional engineer in mechanical engineering in Pennsylvania. He held many positions, including past president, of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers. He was also a member of the American Society of Testing Materials.
    He is survived by a daughter, Marjorie Rose Thornton of Myrtle Beach, S.C; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
    Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College.
    The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Donald R. Shover Jr. officiating.
    Entombment will be in Centre County Memorial Park, College Township.

    Clyde D. Dockey, 88, of Hegins, and a patient at Friendly Nursing Home, Pitman, since March 2005, died Tuesday at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, where he had been a patient for a month.
    Born in Berrysburg, Nov. 12, 1919, he was a son of the late Daniel and Cora Kebach Dockey.
    June 14, 1941, he married his wife, Helen Deibler Dockey who preceded him in death on May 5, 2004.
    He was a mechanic and later employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Highway, until his retirement.
    He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Frie-dens Lutheran Church, Hegins, and Valley View American Legion.
    In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Dockey; and three sisters, Faye Wise, Maude Bucher and Mabel Queer.
    Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Timothy Masser, Pitman; two grandsons, Michael Masser, Pitman, and Jeffrey Masser, RR1, Klingerstown; five great-grandchildren, Alexander, Douglas, Hannah, Casey and Kellan Masser; and a sister, Hilda Miller, Millersburg.
    A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, 1133 Ridge Road, Klingerstown, followed by funeral services at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Rothermel and the Rev. Warren Egebo officiating. Interment will be in Friedens Lutheran Cemetery, Hegins.

    GRATZ – Bruce L. Bucher, 91, of Gratz, PA, passed on peacefully Sunday, April 1, 2018, at Premier at Susquehanna, Millersburg.
    He was born November 24, 1926, in Berrysburg, the son of the late L. Stanley and Maude (Dockey) Bucher. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Bucher, Elizabethville.
    Bruce was a veteran of the US Army and served during World War II. Prior to retiring from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, he worked many years for Haven Witmer Plumbing and Heating, Malta.
    He loved being out of doors; playing baseball in his youth; fishing, especially for bass in Canada; and hunting in the mountains for deer, red fox and wild turkeys. Bruce had a strong work ethic and a sweet, sly sense of humor.
    He was a devoted husband, father and “Pappy” and is survived by Fern, wife of 67 years; daughter Elaine, wife of Robert Lane; granddaughter Ceena, wife of Michael Jenkins; great-granddaughter Saj Edmonds; and great-grandson Mikohl Jenkins.
    A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Simeon’s United Lutheran Church, 173 N. Center Street, Gratz, at 11 am with visitation with the family from 10-11 am.
    Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

    She retired with 50 years of service as a hair stylist. She had owned Briggs Salon, Berrysburg and Ione's Beauty Salon, Elizabethville.
    She was a member of Salem UCC, Elizabethville; served on the Women's Guild, preparing meals for various gatherings at the church; was a past member of Peace UCC in Berrysburg; member of the American Business Women's Association and voted Woman of the Year for 2007. She enjoyed shopping, cooking and exchanging postal letters with her circle of friends.
    Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Donald D. Bucher; son, Charles S. Bucher of Oviedo, FL; daughter, Jane E., wife of Neil Kazan of Far Hills, NJ; brother, Owen A. Holtzman of Berrysburg, PA; 3 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 2 nieces, Elaine Lane and Kathy Holtzman. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Holtzman.
    Services will be held at Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Monday, August 13, 2007 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Daniel Shahan officiating, and Rev. Jeff Wagner assisting. Interment will follow in the Sweitzers Memorial Cemetery, Berrysburg. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, August 12th and Monday from 10-11 a.m., at the funeral home.

    Helen P. Dockey, 82, of 207 E. Main St., Hegins, died Wednesday evening at the Friendly Nursing Home, Pitman, where she had been a patient since April 21. She had been in ill health since April 4.
    Born in Berrysburg, March 21, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Claude N. and Joyce A. Radel Deibler. She was educated at Koppenhaver's School, Berrysburg area.
    She was retired, having been employed by various factories in the Millersburg and Valley View areas and later as a cook by the Tri-Valley School District, Hegins.
    She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins.
    Preceding her in death were a sister, Betty Williams; two brothers, Norwood and Guy Deibler.
    Surviving are her husband, Clyde D., whom she married on June 14, 1941; a daughter, Joyce R. Masser, Pitman; three sisters, Renee Attinger, New Cumberland, Marlene Filarsky, Lompoc, Calif., and Marie Wilbert, Halifax; two brothers, Marlin Deibler, New Cumberland, and Warren Deibler, Millersburg; two grandsons; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
