    SELINSGROVE -- Holden S. Smith, 71, of 8 Smokehouse Lane died at 6:12 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 1994, in the emergency room of Sunbury Community Hospital. He was in ill health for a few years.
    He was born June 20, 1922, in Valley View, a son of the late Harvey and Minnie Rothermel Smith. In 1942, he was married to the former Ruby N. Mattern.
    He lived at Selinsgrove for five years, and previously lived at Dornsife RD.
    Mr. Weikel was employed as a carpenter for area contractors for many years before retiring in 1985.
    He was educated in the Valley View schools.
    He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
    He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Red Cross.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Terry of Herndon RD1 and Carmen of Northumberland; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Beulah Rebuck of Klingerstown RD and Henrietta Erdman of Hillsgrove.
    He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
    The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Robert G. Foust Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, by the Rev. Glen B. Keidel Jr. Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
    Visitors may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

    Harry S. Smith, 40, Dornsife RD 1, died at 5:25 a,m. today at the Somerset Hospital, Somerville: N.J. He was stricken early Monday morning, while driving a truck Jersey and had been hospitalized ever since.
    He was born at Hegins, October 1, 1926, of the late Harvey and Minnie Rothermel Smith. He resided in the Dornsife area most of his life.
    Mr. Smith worked for the K & S Trucking Company and previously as a carpenter.
    He was married in March, 1946 in Lake Hill to Shirley Tschopp, Dornsife. He attended in Rebuck and was a schooler of Red Cross, Lutheran Church. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
    Surviving are wife, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Diane Wolfe, Mandata, and Miss Audrey Smith, at home; one son, Harry Jr., at six sisters, Mrs. Helen Hoffner, cramento; Mrs. Hilda Huntzinger, Spring Glen; Mrs. Hazel Campbell, Hegins; Mabel Boyer, Halifax; Mrs. Beulah Rebuck, Trevorton, and Mrs. Henrietta Erdman, Perkasie; three brothers, Homer, Howard Holden, Dornsife.
    Funeral arrangements, in charge of the Foust funeral home at Trevorton, will be announced Friday.

    NORTHUMBERLAND — Dr. Glen Edwin Smith, 72, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Nottingham Village, Nor- thumberland, where he lived for nine years. He was a long-time resident of Dickinson, Texas, and more recently of Selinsgrove.
    He was born Jan. 2, 1936, in Rebuck, a son of Edna P. (Re- buck) Smith and the late How- ard S. Smith. He and the former Elaine Newman were married on June 16, 1957.
    He was a 1952 graduate of Trevorton High School and received his bachelor of arts degree from Susquehanna University in 1956. He earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in 1960 and completed his internship at Germantown Hospital in Philadelphia. He then joined the U.S. Public Health Service, where he served as the general medical officer in the Division of Indian Health in Colorado and Montana. He also served as medical officer in charge of the Crow Indian Hospital and associated clinics in Crow Agency, Mont. He was service unit director at Flathead Indian Reservation, St. Ignatius, Mont., in 1964. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in Seattle, Wash., in 1967.
    Dr. Smith served as deputy chief of internal medicine at the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in Galveston, Texas, from 1968 to 1970. In 1970, he was named a member of the Outstanding Young Men of America. He entered into private practice in internal medicine in 1970. In 1973 and 1975, he was named to “Who’s Who” in Texas.
    He later served as chief of staff at Clear Lake Hospital in Webster, Texas, in 1977. He presented several scientific papers at national conferences in the 1960s.
    Dr. Smith was a clinical instructor in medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, from 1968 until 1970. He was the medical director of respiratory therapy technology at Alvin Community College, Alvin, Texas, from 1978 through 1988.
    He was a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the Texas Society of Internal Medicine and numerous other professional organizations.
    He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, traveling and the outdoors. I
    n addition to his wife, Elaine, he is survived by his mother, Edna Smith of Millersburg; two daughters, Debora Lamas of Selinsgrove and Joyce Smith of South Riding, Va; a son-in- law, David H. Lamas of Selinsgrove; two granddaughters, Monica Rodriguez and Lauren Lamas, both of Selinsgrove; four brothers, Ronald Smith of Laytonsville, Md., Neil Smith of Warriors Mark, Ned Smith of Norfolk, Va., and Ted Smith of Addision; and one sister, Linda Lauver of Millersburg.
    Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, where the funeral will be con- ducted at 11 a.m. Saturday.
    Burial will follow in Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Selinsgrove.

    She was predeceased by her husband, John Big John Lauver, and a brother, Glen Smith.
    Survivors include her children, daughters, Kim Bower (Tracy) and Michele Clark (Michael) both from Millersburg, and son James (Tinnina) Lauver, Murrels Inlet, SC; her grandchildren, who were the joy of her life, Joshua Clark, Kaitlyn Bower and Jordan Lauver, step-grandson Tyler Bower; and her brothers, Ronald Smith (Barbara), Neil Smith (Nancy), Ted Smith (Cathy) and Ned Smith (Michelin) and her special cousin Paul Rebuck (Julia).
