    Homer S. Smith, 55, a native of Hegins, died Thursday night in Geisinger Hospital, Danville, where he was admitted Monday after being stricken ill at his home, Dornsife RD1.
    Mr. Smith was a son of the late Harvey and Minnie (Rothermel) Smith. He lived in Valley View before moving to the Dornsife area in 1932.
    Mrs. Smith, who was last employed as a welder for the Susquehanna Quarry, Millersburg, was married Oct. 7, 1933, in Valley View to Esther Stepp, of Trevorton. He was a member of Himmel's Lutheran Church, Rebuck.
    Surviving are the widow, at home; two sons, Kenneth Smith, U. S. Air Force, Tucson, Ariz., and Earl Smith, Camp Hill; one [daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Norma)] Corrado, Mount Rainier, Md; two brothers, Howard, Dornsife, and Holden, Dornsife R.     She was born June 18, 1915, in Dornsife, a daughter of the late Benjamin G. and Jennie M. (Schmidt) Stepp. She was married to Homer S. Smith, who preceded her in death on June 22, 1967.
    Esther lived most of her life in Dornsife and for the past 10 years had lived with her daughter, Norma Corrado, in Jessup, Md.
    Esther was a homemaker and a member of Himmel’s Lutheran Church, Rebuck.
    She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Earl and Joan Smith, of Oklahoma City, Okla; one daughter, Norma Corrado, of Jessup; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Foulds, of Harrisburg; and nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth G. Smith, and three brothers, Roy, William and Earl Stepp.
    A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26, in Himmel’s Lutheran Church, Rebuck, with the Rev. Jane Compton officiating.
    Burial will follow in Himmel’s Lutheran Cemetery, Rebuck.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Esther’s memory to Himmel’s Church Memorial Fund, 1941 Schwaben Creek Road, Re- buck, PA 17867.

    He was also a member of Mandata American Legion Post 504, the Moose Lodge in Franklin, W.Va., and the Eagles Lodge in Yakima, Wash.
    Surviving, in addition to his mother, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Colleen Smith of Baden and Wayne and Terri Smith of Inwood, W.Va; one daughter, Lynn Self of Siloam Springs, Ark; seven grandchildren; one brother, Earl Smith of Oklahoma City; and one sister, Norma Corrado of Jessup, Md.
    Friends and family may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Himmel's Lutheran Church, Rebuck, where the funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Frederick H. Faust officiating.
    Burial will be in Himmel's Lutheran Cemetery.

    She was born Dec. 25, 1915, in RR1 Dornsife. a daughter of the late Alvin and Flossie (Heim) Long. On Sept. 11, 1937, in Herndon, she married Lester "Louie" Howerter, who preceded her in death Aug. 29, 1989.
    Arlene was a homemaker and member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hunter Station, where she formerly served as Sunday school pianist.
    "Grem," as she was more commonly known by her family, was a true symbol of a caring mother and grandmother; with a crochet needle in her hand, Bible at her side and enough food on the table to feed a small army. Such a small woman in stature, she had more than enough love and compassion for all those around her. Though Arlene has passed away, her family will continue to carry on the values she lived by God and family.
    Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Lester M. and Lorraine Howerter of RR Millersburg; two daughters and one son-in-law, Lorene and Robert Snyder and Joyce Howerter, all of RR1 Shamokin; one son-inlaw, Lester E. Lubold of RR1 Shamokin; 12 grandchildren, Ed and Wayne Smith, Lynn Self, I Lisa Williard, Corey and Scott Snyder, Stacy and Kelly Howerter, and Erin, Emily, Alison and Ashley Lubold; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Arabelle Derk of RR1 Shamokin; and nieces and nephews.
    In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Gladys F. Smith and Marilyn L. Lubold; three brothers, Ray, Melvin and Emory Long; one sister, Alma Rebuck; and one son-in-law, Kenneth G. Smith.
    A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Route 225, Hunter Station, where the funeral will follow at 11 with the Rev. Glen B. Keidel Jr. officiating.

    Funeral services for Robert Charles Huntzinger, 47, of Hegins, owner and operator of the Valley Citizen Press, Valley View, were held Wednesday morning in Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins. The Rev. Herbert Dewees officiated and interment was in the Friedens Cemetery, Hegins. Buffington Funeral Home, Valley View was in charge of the arrangements.
    Born in Hegins October 6, 1927, he was a son of the late William and Iva Gahres Huntzinger. He was stricken ill Friday evening shortly after returning from the Pennsylvania Dutch Fersommling held in the Line Mountain High School in Herndon, and died Saturday morning.
    He was a graduate of the Milton Hershey School and served in the U. S. Army. In 1973 he purchased the Valley Citizen print shop after 26 years of employment by the Valley Citizen Company, Inc.

    Howard S. Smith
    DORNSIFE - Howard S. Smith, 68, Dornsife, died yesterday morning in the emergency room of the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
    He had been in ailing health for the last few years.
    Born in Rebuck, Aug. 8, 1915, he was a son of the late S. Harvey and Minnie Edna Rothermel Smith.
    Mr. Smith lived in Rebuck and Dornsife most of his life.
    He worked as an electrician and plumber for Kauffman, Mechanical Inc., Dornsife. He also worked for many years for Stevens Coal Co., Trevorton.
    He was married in 1935 in Urban to the formes Edna Rebuck.
    He was educated in Tri-Valley. schools and was a member of Himmel's Lutheran Church, Rebuck.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, Glenn of Dickinson, Texas, Ronald of Laytonsville, Md., Neil of Warriors Mark, Pa., Ned of Dale City, Va; and Ted of Frederick, Md; one daughter, Mrs. Linda Lauver of Gratz; 12 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; four sisters, Mrs. Marlen Huntzsinger of Spring Glen, Mrs. Harlen Boyer of Halifax, Mrs. Charles Rebuck of Trevorton and Mrs. Lester Erdman of Hills Grove, Pa; and one brother, Holden of Dornsife.
    The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Himmel's Lutheran Church, Rebuck, by the Rev. Paul Billow. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
    Friends may call in the church Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
    Donations may be given to the memorial fund of Himmel's Lutheran Church, Rebuck.
    Funeral arrangements were made by the Robert Foust Funeral Home, Trevorton.

    Beulah K. Rebuck, 87, Sunbury
    SUNBURY — Beulah K. Rebuck, 87, a resident of the Golden Living Center Mansion at Sunbury and a former resident of Sunbury, Klingerstown, Trevorton and Rebuck, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she had been a patient since Sept. 5.
    She was born Sept. 23, 1919, in Dornsife, a daughter of the late Samuel Harvey Smith and Minnie Edna (Rothermel) Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Kcuber” Rebuck on Nov. 30, 2005.
    She was a graduate of the Line Mountain High School, having received her diploma in the 1970’s.
    She was a seamstress at the former Nite Kraft, Sunbury, and a sales person at the former Broscious Lumber Co., Sunbury. Beulah was a member of Himmel’s Lutheran Church, Rebuck, and the president of the Citizens Committee for the residents at the Golden Living Center Mansion, Sunbury. While a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Trevorton, she served in the choir, as church secretary, Sunday school teacher and substitute organist. She also served as a den mother for the scouts.
    Beulah was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, crochet- ing, braiding rugs, doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and was a volunteer at the Trevorton Library.
    She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Daphne and Kenneth Keim, of Ephrata; Laure and David Johnson, of Sunbury; and Amy and Rick Masser, of RR1 Klingerstown; two sons and four daughters-in-law, Tony and Bonnie Rebuck and Pierce and Mary Jane Rebuck, all of Sunbury; Mary Frances Rebuck, of Sunbury; and Dorothy Portes, of Lebanon; 15 grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Henrietta Erdman of Muncy; and nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by one daughter, Renee Rebuck in 1940; two sons, Norman Rebuck in 1978 and Charles Rebuck in 2005; one great-grandson, Cole Gavin Johnson in 2005; four sisters, Helen Hoffner, Hilda Huntzinger, Hazel Kembel and Mabel Boyer; four brothers, Homer, Howard, Holden, and Harry Smith; and two infants.
    A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Himmel’s Church, Rebuck, followed by a funeral service at 11 with the Rev. Peter Bergstresser officiating.
    Burial in Himmel’s Cemetery, Rebuck.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Himmel’s Church Memorial Fund, Rebuck, PA 17867.
    The Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, 1133 Ridge Rd., Klingerstown has charge of the arrangements.
