Mary F. Deppen Hess, 82, of Cornwall Manor, Cornwall, formerly of Hershey, died of natural causes Saturday, April 3, 1999, in the Hershey Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Charles S. Stew Hess.
Born April 8, 1916, in New Bloomfield, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Grant and Emma Jane Schlegel Deppen. She was a homemaker, an avid reader and an accomplished vocalist. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hershey and also attended Evangelical Free Church of Hershey. She was a member of the Palmyra Chapter 402 Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are daughters Jacqueline L. Stem, Carmel, Calif., Gwendolyn F. Wright, Hershey, and Beverly N. Reighn, Palmyra; a sister, Blanche Yeich, Hershey; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1225 W. Chocolate Ave., Hershey, preceded by a viewing beginning at 1.

Charles S. 'Stew' Hess, 81, of Hummelstown RD 1 died Monday (January 01, 1990) in Hershey Medical Center. He was retired chief of the Depot Shop Division, Depot Directorate for Maintenance at New Cumberland Army Depot. He was former chief of maintenance for jet-engine repair at the former Olmsted Air Force Base, Lowe Swatara Twp., and was involved in the building of the Spirit of St. Louis airplane. He was graduated as a master mechanic from the San Diego Air Technical School and had attended Ohio State University. He attended Evangelical Free Church and Fishburn United Methodist Church, both of Hershey, and was a member of Brownstone Lodge F&AM, Hershey, where he was chairman of the Masonic Education Committee. He also was a member of the Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Temple, Hershey and Lebanon County Shrine clubs, Quittapahilla Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Forest 25, York Rite Bodies, Elizabethtown High 12 Club, the Pitman (N.J.) Masonic Club, Elks Lodge 1092, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the Retired Federal Employees Breakfast Club. Surviving are his wife, Mary F. Deppen Hess; three daughters, Jacqueline L. Stern of Hummelstown, Gwen H. Wright of Hershey, and Beverly R. Reighn of Elizabethtown; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Hoover Funeral Home, Hershey. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra. Mr. Knorr, born in Upper Mahanoy Township, Northumberland County, was a son of the Wilson and Selarah Deppen Knorr.
Survivng are, his wife, the former Clara Hile; five daughters: Mrs. Irene Alvord of Wiconisco, Mrs. Dolly Whitmore of Mateo, Calif., Mrs. Ila Lou McNalis of Williamstown; Mrs. Mattern of Valley View and Jovce Knorr at home; three sons: James Knorr of Pleasantville, N.J. Walter Knorr of Dighton, Mass., Raymond Knorr of San Mateo, Calif; two stepsons, Russell Enterline, of Halifax, R.D. and Lester Enterline of Camp Hill; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Marlene Wiest at home. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mable Wltmer, of Lykens, Mrs. Rose Hoffman of Harrisburg; three brothers: boyd and Allen KNorr, both of Pleasantville, N.J., and Kermit, of Baltimore, Md; 32 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral will be held Sunday, afternoon from Roy W. D Schaffstall Funeral Home, 406 Market St., Lykens. The Rev. H. Linn Finger, pastor of the Reformed Church at Lykens, will officiate at services. Interment will be in Wiconisco Cemetery.

MRS. GURNEY KNORR
Mrs. Gurney Knorr, 41, a resident of Lykens for over twenty years, died in the Geisinger Hospital, Danville, Wednesday evening at 6:15, death having been caused by a six months' illness of dropsy and a heart condition.
Mrs. Knorr was born in Tower City and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Kolva. Twenty-one years ago she was united in marriage to Mr. Gurney Knorr who with three sons, James Raymond and Walter at home, and three daughters, Mrs. Irene Alvord of New Jersey; Dolly Mae and Ina Lou at home. Two brothers, Dory, of Vineland, N. J., and Russel, address unknown, also survive. She attended and was a member of Christ Reformed Church, North Second street, Lykens.
Funeral services will be held from her late home 558 North street, Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with Rev. Paul C. Schreier, pastor of Christ Reformed Church, officiating. Burial will be made in the Wiconisco cemetery.2 - She was buried at Wiconisco, Dauphin County, PA.2

FORREST KEISER
Funeral services for Forrest Keiser age 31 years of Lykens, who died in the Harrisburg Hospital, Friday, after an attack of pneumonia, were held from the home of his parents on Tuesday afernoon. Rev. Mr. Sandt, former pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church officiated and interment was made in the I. O. O. F. Cemetery. Members of the Lykens Lodge of that order had charge of the services at the grave.
Beside his parents, he is survived by his wife, four small children; two brothers and five sisters.

Harry E. Witmer, 75, of 336 Main St., Lykens, died on Thursday at 1:15 a. m. in his home.
Mr. Witmer, born at Gratz, was a son of the late Daniel and Mary Witmer.
He was a member of the Wiconisco Fire Co.
Surviving are, his wife, the former Mable Knorr; seven daughters: Joyce and Kathy, both at home; Mrs. Dorothy Jones of Columbia, Mrs. Mary Yeager and Mrs. Florence Daniels, both of Lykens; Mrs. Shirley Cordy of Lykens RD, Mrs. Betty Buggy, of Williamstown; five sons : Harry D. of Williamstown, Robert E., Kenneth A., and Terrance L., all at home; and Donald L. of Lykens ; a brother, George Witmer of Lemoyne, and two-sisters: Mrs. Della Minnich of Wiconisco and Mrs. Sula Alexander of Philadelphia; also 21 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Pearl Renner, 82, of 1903 Walnut St, Ashland, who died Friday morning at Ashland State General Hospital, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday from the Frederick T. Albert Deppen
Albert D. Deppen, 1903 Walnut St., Ashland, died Wednesday in the Ashland State Hospital where he had been a patient five weeks.
He was born Aug. 13, 1912 in Hebe, Pa., son of Daniel and Harriet (Trautman) Deppen and resided in Ashland most of his life.
He was a retired employee of the Cleveland Bros. Equipment Company of Frackville. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel of Christ United Lutheran Church, Ashland, and had membership in the, IOOF 591, Shenandoah. Moose Club of Mount Carmel and the Christmas Tree Growers Association of Pennsylvania.
Surviving are two sisters. Mrs. Eva Bower, Herndon RD and Mrs. Pearl Renner, with whom he resided, and one brother, Elmer, Rego Park, L. I., N. Y.
Funeral services will be Saturday morning from the Kull Funeral Home. Interment in Christ Church Cemetery. Fountain Springs. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday evening.
