    Mrs. Sarah A. Knecht, 93, widow of William F. Knecht, died at her home in Tower City on Tuesday. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City. Mrs. Knecht's husband, a former publisher of the West Press, died in 1949.
    Mrs. Knecht was a daughter of late William and Maria (Kaufman) Klinger, and was a native Fearnot, Schuylkill County.
    Survivors are three sons, William K. Knecht, State Representative and publisher of the West Schuylkill Herald, Tower City ; Roy, of Heavener, Oklahoma; Karl E., of Tyrone; three daughters, Mrs. Mrs. Albert Erb of Pottstown; Mrs. Philip Borke, of Hershey, and Miss Merle Knecht, at home; thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
    Services will be held from the J. Dreisigacker, Jr., Funeral Home, Tower City, Friday morning. Dr. Paul Sell, pastor of Paul's Lutheran Church will officiate and interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Tower City.

    WILLIAM P. KLINGER
    William P. Klinger, 84 years, a prominent resident of Tower City, died Monday afternoon at 1 :45 o'clock after a lingering ill-illness. He had been in failing health the past two years, and had been bedfast for several months before his death.
    Mr. Klinger was a son of the late William Klinger and wife, nee Maria Kaufman. He was born at Tower City on May 28, 1870. and resided here most of his life. He was married to Katherine Bailey, who preeeeded him in death about twelve years ago. To survive he leaves one sister, Mrs. Alice Knecht, of Tower City, and six children, Charles, of Lebanon; Irene, wife of Herbert Grove, of Tied Lion; Mrs. Katherine Bebo, of Worcester, Mass; Isabel, wife of Fred Romberger, of Lykens; Harry, of Red Lion, and Grace, wife of Robert Kolva, of Tower City, with vhom he resided. There are ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
    Mr. Klinger was a carpenter by occupation. He was prominent in community affairs, and served as a school director and school treasurer for several terms, also served as treasurer for the Borough Council. He was a devout member of the Methodist Church and served many years as an official board member. He was an excellent vocalist, and was a choir director of the Methodist Church over a long period. He was also an active member of Tower Lodge No. 13, Knights of Pythias.
    The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Hazuda funeral home. Tower City, and was in charge of Reiff and Helt, of Lykens. Services were conducted by Rev. George K. Ludwig, pastor of the Methodist Church, and interment was made in Greenwood cemetery.
    Out of town people attending the funeral were: Charles Klinger, Mrs. Peter Sheehan, Dean Klinger, James Klinger and Carol Klinger of Lebanon; Mrs. R. R.     She was a graduate of the former Tower City High School and Lankenau Nursing School.
    Beth worked as a nurse for many years for Dr. Herrold, Williamstown, and retired from Dr. Bowers office, Lykens. She was also a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II.
    Beth was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City, where she was a member of the choir, kitchen committee and altar guild. She was also a member of the Glen Chapter of the Eastern Star, Lykens.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry E., in 2000; a daughter, Susan, in 1953, and a brother, Ben Hoffman.
    Surviving are a daughter, Beth Ann Richards and her husband, Kerry, Tower City; two grandchildren, Crystal Richards, Tower City, and Chad Richards and his wife, Jody, Valley View; two great-grandchildren, Kailie and Caden Richards.
    Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City, officiated by the Rev. Linda Bonfiglio. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. Dimon Funeral Home and Cremation Services had charge of arrangements.

    Mr. and Mrs. Edward F. Kantner, Tower City, on Tuesday, December 4, observed their 50th wedding anniversary. No special celebration of the occasion was observed. Mr. Kantner served his apprenticeship under , barber Charles Lehman, who then had a shop where the present Staple barber shop is located. He opened a shop for himself in 1899, and has been in business continuously since that time. For the past twenty-five years he has also conducted a small sporting goods store in connection with his bar ber shop.
    He is married to the former Emma Houtz, and they have two daughters, Lola and Thelma, both at home. The family is active in the Evangelical United Brethren Church, and Mr. Kantner is one of the few living charter members of Tower Lodge No. 13, Knights of Pythias.

    Services for Thelma L. Kantner, 84, formerly of 139 E. Grand Ave.. Tower City, who died Tuesday evening at Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from the Chapel of Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City. The Rev. Paul Baughman will officiate. Interment will.be in Greenwood Cemetery, RD Tower City. Born in Tower City, Nov. 25, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Emma Houtz Kantner. She was a retired secretary from the Pennsylvania Department of Forests and Water and had also been a dental hygienist. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Tower City, a former superintendent of the Sunday school and a former member of the choir. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lola Kantner. She was the last surviving member of her family.
