    Mrs. Mildred I. Yost, 44, of 414 W. Broad St., Tamaqua, wife of Charles W. Yost, died suddenly in her home Saturday at 2 a.m. She had been in ill health for six months.
    A lifelong resident of Tamaqua, Mrs. Yost was a daughter of the late Rhoades and Grace Worrell Mock.
    She was a member of Salem Bible Fellowship Church, Lehighton.
    Surviving are her husband; her stepmother, Mrs. Marie Mock, of 722 E. Broad St., Tamaqua.
    Funeral will be held Tuesday morning from Zizelmann Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad Street, Tamaqua. Interment in Skyview Memorial Park, Hometown.

    Corporal James R. Mock, 22-yearold son of Mr. and Mrs. Rhoades Mock, 106 Market St., Tamaqua, was killed on Okinawa, April 18, according to a War Department message received by his aunt, Mrs.
    Clara Hartman, Warren, O., with whom he lived.
    Corporal Mock entered service Nov. 27, 1942, and had never been home on furlough. He received tank battalion training Camp Jeale, Calif., and was sent overseas April 8, 1943.
    He graduated from Tamaqua High school with the class of 1941, where he starred in football. Prior to entering service he was employed at the Ravenna, O., ordnance plant.
    Surviving besides his parents is a sister, Mildred, at home.2,3

    SUNBURY - Frederick E. Lepley, 66, of 138 Fairmount Ave., died Saturday afternoon in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
    Born in Sunbury May 9, 1921, he was the son of the late Frederick T. and Mabel R. (Klinger) Lepley. His wife, June A. Lepley, died in 1973.
    He was the owner of Lepley's Market, Catawissa Avenue; a member of Catawissa Avenue Methodist Church, Sunbury, Union County Sportsmen's Club, Weikert, Sunbury Masonic Lodge and Consistory of Harrisburg; a member and past commander of American Legion, Northumberland; and a life member of the VFW, East Sunbury Hose Company, Elks and Sunbury Social Club, all of Sunbury. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy.
    He is survived by two sons, Frederick E. of Portsmouth, Va., and Thomas F. of New York, N.Y; two daughters, Sherri A. of Vienna, Va. , and Terri A. Lubsen of Center Valley; one sister, Mrs. Emma Jane Korten of Sunbury; and four grandchildren.
    The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Ernest J. Korten Jr. Funeral Home, Sunbury, by the Rev. A. Donald Main. Burial will be in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury, where military rites will be conducted at the graveside.
    Visitors may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be conducted at 8 p.m.

    SUNBURY — Emma Jane Korten, 84, of RR2, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 21, 2010, at her residence.
    She was born Aug. 2, 1925, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Fredrick T. and Mabel R. (Klinger) Lepley. On June 27, 1948, in Zion Luthern Church, she married Ernest Korten Jr., who preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 2000.
    Emma Jane was a licensed x-ray technician having worked at the Sunbury Community Hospital and the Selinsgrove Center until she retired.
    She and her husband also operated a Tastee Freeze in Danville for four years.
    She was a long time member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 266, the Mary D. Rockafeller Auxiliary of the Sunbury Community Hospital, AARP, and the Susquehanna Valley Country Club.
    Emma Jane enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, was an avid golfer and loved to travel.
    She is survived by three nieces, Terri Lubsen, of Center Valley, Sheri Attiliis, of Vienna, Va., and Denise Korten, of Sunbury, and one nephew, Thomas Lepley, of New York City.
    She was preceded in death by one brother, Fredrick E. Lepley on Sept. 12, 1987.
    There will be no viewing and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
    Arrangements are being handled by the Olley-Gotlob Funeral Home, 539 Race St., Sunbury.

    Robert Earl Brickan, 84, of Livonia, Michigan, passed away at home on April 25, 2017. Robert was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 10, 1932. He graduated from Cooley High School, and after serving three years in the army, received his Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. He was employed as a draftsman at Detroit Diesel in Redford, and retired in 1988. Robert married Marilyn Marie Bohn on May 28, 1960. They were together 56 years. Robert is survived by his wife Marilyn, his sister, Shirley (Hollen) Groff; his children Laurie (Scott) Ervans, Brian Brickan, and Colleen (Mark) Endress; eight grandchildren – Trisha Ervans, Amy (Michael) Van Essen, Racheal Ervans, Derek Brickan, Stacey Brickan, Eric Endress, Katie Brickan, and Sean Endress; two great-grandchildren; and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ethel Brickan, his brother, William Brickan, and his grandson Steven Ervans. A private family viewing is planned, and a memorial service for family and friends will be held at a future date.4

    She retired from Ohio Casualty Insurance Company, Harrisburg and was a member of Gravel Hill United Methodist Church, Palmyra. Shirley was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and especially adored her only granddaughter.
    Surviving are her daughter, Lisa R. Paponetti, wife of Kevin Q. Luu of Annville; granddaughter, Katia P. Luu; brother, Samuel M., husband of Betty J. (Lingle) Willard of Chambersburg; sister, Delores V. Lyman; nephew, Wynn A. Willard of St. Petersburg, Florida; and her "Beautiful Cats" Fanita and Skipper.
    Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 4, 2009 at Gravel Hill United Methodist Church, 131 Gravel Hill Road, Palmyra preceded by a visitation from 10:00 AM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Hershey Cemetery.
