    Dietz rites
    Services for Ray E. Dietz, 88, of RR1 Klingerstown, who died Monday morning at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, will be private and at the convenience of the family at Salem United Church of Church Church, RR1 Klingerstown. The Rev. Mark Rothermel will officiate. Interment will be In Salem Cemetery, RR1 Klingerstown. Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, RR1 Klingerstown is in charge of arrangements. He had been a patient at Tremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center since Feb. 23. He had been in ill since Jan. 27.
    Born in RR1 Klingerstown, Nov. 6, 1909, he was a son of the late Elmer and Lillie Starr Dietz. He was educated in Upper Mahantongo Township schools.
    He had been an independent coal hauler for 27 years and had worked for 12 years at Bethlehem Steel Corp., Harrisburg. He retired from farming in 1980.
    He was a member of Salem UCC, Mahantongo Fire Company, Pitman, and the National Rifle Association. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ray F., in 1932, and Earl K., in 1954; eight sisters, Katie Dietz, Mayme Haas, Edna Maurer, Sadie Maurer, Louella Maurer, Verna Semerod, Florence Geist and Pearl Kieffer; three brothers, Herlen, Marlyn and Willard.
    Surviving are his wife, the former Gertrude M. Schultz, whom he married on Dec. 24, 1932; a son, James A., RR1 Klingerstown; two daughters, Kay V. Williard, RR1 Klingerstown, and Jean L. Savidge, RD1 Hegins; a sister, Esther Hepler, RR1 Pitman; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
