Robert F. Maurer, a life-long and respected resident of Pitman, died at his home Saturday night, following an illness of about six months duration.
Surviving are his widow, one sister, Mrs. Koons, of Mt. Carmel, and the following children: Raymond, of Allentown; Lewis, of Mt. Carmel; Darvin, of Shamokin; Mrs. Allen Heim, of Pitman; Mrs. Roland Lesher, of Bethlehem and Mrs. Earl Herring, of Shamokin. He was a member of Zion's Evangelical inurch for many years.
Funeral services were held Wednesdav at 10 o'clock from his late home followed by services in charge of the. Kev. Draper in Zion's Church. Burial was made in Zion's Church cemetery.

Mrs. Vesta Maurer Dies Unexpectedly At Pitman
Mrs. Vesta Maurer, 80, died suddenly Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Allen Heim, in Pitman. She suffered a heart attack.
Her husband, the late Robert Maurer, preceded her; in death 17 years ago.
She is survived by the following children, Raymond Maurer, Allentown; Lewis Maurer, Mt. Carmel; Darvin Maurer, Shamokin; Mrs. Allen Heim, with whom she resided; Mrs. Rohland Esher, Shamokin; and Mrs. .Earl Herring, Elysburg; a brother, John Snyder, Ashland, 25 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the home. Further services Vill be held at Zion Evangelical church in Pitman with the pastor, Rev. Hiram Weaver, officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Funeral services for Howard J. Kahler, age 43, of Millersburg R.D., who died in the Harrisburg Hospital Wednesday evening, were held from the Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown R.D., Monday afternoon. Further services were held in Himmel's Church at Rebuck, with Rev. Charles T. Herman, pastor of the Urban Lutheran Parish officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
Mr. Kahler, and seven other persons, were injured in a highway accident at Gratz, May 20th, which involved cars operated by Elwood Wiest, of Herndon, and Robert Bensinger, of Klingerstown R. D. Mr. Kahler sustained a fractured skull and other injuries.
He is survived his wife, Mrs. Phoebe M. Kahler, four sons and one daughter, Darwin Kahler, of the U. S. Navy, Bruce, Lester, Daniel and Violet Kahler, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel [Daniel] Kahler, of Rebuck; two brothers, and five sisters: Robert Kahler, Rebuck; Clyde Kahler, Hegins; Mrs. Elwood Wiest and Mrs. Arthur Carl, Herndon R. DORNSIFE -- Peggy M. Latshaw, 84, formerly of RR Dornsife, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville, where she was a guest for the past two months.
She was born in Leck Kill on June 24, 1920, a daughter of the late Earl and Florence (Deitz) Geist. She lived with her daugh ter, Ruth Ann, in St. Clair for the past three years before entering the center.
On April 25, 1942, in Upper Darby, Pa., she married the Rev. Burlington B. Latshaw Jr., who preceded her in death July 3, 1985.
She was a 1938 graduate of Trevorton High School.
Mrs. Latshaw was a homemaker.
During her husband's ministry, she lived in Shen[en]doah, Va., Charlestown, W. Va., Valley View, Pa., Red Hill. Pa., and Summer Hill, Pa. They retired to RR Dornsife.
She was a member of Himmel's Lutheran Church, Rebuck.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law. the Rev. Burlington B. III and Marion Latshaw of Pottstown; one daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Ann and James Kerick of Saint Clair; three grand-daughters, Josanna Rutkowski, Jessica Latshaw and Diane Shippen; three great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.
Visitors may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at Himmel's Lutheran Church, Rebuck. The funeral will be conducted at 1 1 a.m. Monday at the church by the Rev. Frederick Faust.
Burial will be in Himmel's Lutheran Cemetery, Rebuck.

The Rev. Burlington B. Latshaw Jr., 67, of Star Route, Dornsife, Northumberland County, retired Lutheran minister and pastor of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Red Hill, 1969-75, died Wednesday in his home. He was the husband of Peggy M. (Geist) Latshaw.
A 1941 graduate of Muhlenberg College, he graduated from Lutheran Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, in 1947. He began his parish ministry at Shenandoah (Va.) Lutheran Parish, and then served parishes in West Virginia, and Valley View and Summer Hill, both in Schuylkill County.
The Rev. Latshaw served on the first executive board of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod as well as local synodical and national church body committees. He was an elected delegate to four national conventions of the Lutheran Church in America.
Born in Jackson Township, Northumberland County, he was a son of the late Burlington B. and Sally (Stettler) Latshaw.
He was a member of Himmel's Luther an Church, Rebuck, Northumberland County.
An Air Force pilot, he served in World War II.
Surviving with his widow are a son, the Rev. Burlington B. Ill, North Wales; a daughter, Ruth Ann, wife of James Kerick . of St. Clair, Schuylkill County; three brothers, Paul of Dornsife, Curtis of Fredericksburg, Lebanon County, and Luther of Elizabethville, Dauphin County; five sisters, Mrs. Anna Fisher of Danville, Montour County, Mrs. Ada Long of Shamokin, Northumberland County, Mrs. Irma Snyder of Etters, York County, Mrs. Mary Strauss of Jonestown, Dauphin County, and Mrs. Mae McGourty of Merritt Island, Fla., and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday (today) in Himmel's Lutheran Church, Rebuck. There will be a calling period from noon Saturday until services.
The Robert G. Foust Funeral Home, Trevorton, Northumberland County, is in charge of arrangements.

Gertrude M. "Gertie" Schultz Dietz, 95, of Klingerstown, died Monday at the Friendly Nursing Home, Pitman, where she had been a resident the past eight months.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray E. Dietz, who died March 9, 1998.
Born in Klingerstown, May 22, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Charles H. and Mary Herb Schultz.
She attended Karterman School as well as Leck Kill High School.
A life member of Salem Church of Rough and Ready she served as a kitchen committee chairman for many years, and was also a member of the Klingerstown Fire Company, Upper Mahantongo Fire Company and the Mahantango Valley Ambulance Association.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting and crocheting.
Surviving are three children, James A. Dietz and his wife, Patricia, Klingerstown, Kay V. Williard, Klingerstown, and Jean L. Savidge and her husband, Richard, Hegins; four sisters, Irene Bernas, Kulpmont, Geraldine Heim, Valley View, Norma Fetterolf, Hegins, and Betty Schleig, Shamokin RD; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Ray Dietz; a son, Earl Dietz, who died when he was 11 years old; a sister, Ruby Kessle; three brothers, Kermit, Charles and Palmer Schultz.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Salem Church of Rough and Ready Church Road, Klingerstown, with the Rev. Mark Rothermel officiating. Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Klingerstown. Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown, has charge of arrangements. Klingerstown RD Boy Dies in Hospital
Earl K. Dietz, 11, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Dietz, Klingerstown R. D., died yesterday afternoon in University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, of a complication resulting fnm a brain tumor.
The Klingerstown boy, a son ot Ray and Gertrude (Schultz) Dietz, was born February 24, 1943, in Mount Carmel. He was a fifth grade student in Katerman school, Klingerstown R.D., and a member of Salem Reformed Sunday School, Rough and Ready. He was admitted to the University of Pennsylvania Hospitai two weeks ago.
Survivors include the parents, a brother, James; two sisters, Catherine and Jean, all at home, and the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Yost [?], Klingerstown, R.D.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 1:30 in the Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown. Services will be continued in Salem Rerformed Church and burial will be in the cemetery adjoining the church. Rev. John Light, Leck Kill, will officiate. Friendsmay call at the funeral home Friday evening.
