    PILLOW - Morris J. Rebuck, 77, of Pillow, a retired plumber, died Monday in the Sunbury Community Hospital.
    He was a member of the United Church of Christ, Urban; Herndon Cemetery Association; Junior Mechanics; and the Herndon and Pillow fire companies.
    Born Jan. 18, 1903, he was a son of the late John and Mary Schlegel Rebuck.
    He is survived by his wife, Bertha; a son, Thomas of Norristown; two daughters, Mrs. John Reed of Sunbury and Mrs. Marlin Bobb of Herndon; a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Shaffer of Herndon; a brother, Daniel of Lykens RD; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and three stepsons, Kenneth Byerly of Mechanicsburg, Merle Byerly of Harrisburg and Kermit Byerly of Herndon.

    HERNDON - Daniel Edward Baum, 89. Herndon, a Democratic committee chairman in Herndon for a number of years, died Friday in the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he had been a patient for more than a month.
    A resident of Herndon for the past 65 years, he was born June 25, 1888 in Jordan Township, the son of the late George and Sarah Jane Shaffer Baum.
    Early in his life, he operated a hardware store in Herndon and later worked for his son at Baum's Sporting Goods in Sunbury.
    He was married to the former Mary F. Wolfe who died several years ago.
    Mr. Baum was a member of the Zion Luthera and Reformed. Church, Herndon.
    He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Earl Price of Harrisburg and Mrs. Olive Grimm of Herndon: one brother, Harry of Selinsgrove; one sister, Mrs. Vera Shaffer of Urban: seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
    The funeral be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran and Reformed Church, Herndon, by the Rev. Robert Myers, Burial will be in Herndon Cemetery.
    Friends may call at the church Sunday evening and Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
    Funeral arrangements are being made by the Joseph D. Rothermel Funeral Home, Herndon.

    Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2:00 in Shipman Memorial Chapel, Sunbury, for Charles E. Baum, 48, widely known Sunbury sporting goods store proprietor, who died suddenly Tuesday afternoon in Sunbury Community Hospital.
    Mr. Baum, who had been in ill health for some months, entered the hospital on December 24. Death was due to a heart ailment.
    The widely known Sunbury business man was the head of Baum's Sporting Goods, which supplied regional high schools and colleges with athletic equipment. He was also involved in the manufacture of Ensolite equipment, a fiberless plastic, material used for wrestling mats and protective hip and shoulder pads for football. The plant is located in Northumberland.
    Born in Urban. Mr. Baum was a son of Daniel E. and Mary (Wolfe) Baum. He attended Herndon schools and first entered business in Herndon. Mr. Baum was a veteran of World War II.
    Surviving are the parents, the widow, Mrs. Catherine Baum; a son Russel, Sunbury; daughter, Virginia, Sunbury, and two sisters, Mrs. Julia Burell, Dalmatia, and Mrs. Florence Price, Harrisburg.

    She was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Thomas Hayes; one sister, Alice Lefschetz; and one adopted brother, Albert Hayes.
    There will be no viewing. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Elan Memorial Park, 5595 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg.

    RUSSEL C, 73, on Dec. 5, 2004 at Thomas Jefferson Univ. Hospital after a long struggle. Born in Sunbury, PA a graduate of the Business School at Univ. of Michigan in 1953. A retired Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Air Force. He developed and personally marketed the wrestling mats used today. He helped convince the State of West VA to buy and preserve the Mower Lumber logging railway into what is today the Cass Scenic Railway in Cass, West VA. In 1976, he started the Phila. Chapter of the Chaine des Rotisseurs that was considered one of the best chapters in the U.S. He was Bailli there until 1996. He was also Bailli of the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Chaine that he started in 2001 .
    He is survived by his wife Helen (nee Ballard); his son Lawrence F.
    and his wife Florence of South Carolina; his son Steven K. and his wife Martha of Wyndmoor PA; grandchildren Kaitlyn and Andrew; a sister Virginia McGough of Cape Cod MA. Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation, Thursday from 9-10 A.M. at THE BRADLEY FUNERAL HOME, Route 73 and Evesham Road, Marlton N.J.     A member of Zion United Church of Christ, Herndon, she was a lifetime resident of that community and was graduated in 1934 from Herndon High School.
    She was born March 21, 1916 in Herndon, a daughter of D. E. Baum and the late Mary Wolfe Baum.
    Surviving are her husband, Charles I. Burrell; two daughters, Mrs. Arlo Lenker, Herndon, and Mrs. Mark Drumheller, Halifax, and four grandchildren. One son died in 1934.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday by the Rev. T. M. Arner from the Rothermel Funeral Home, Herndon. Burial will be made in Herndon Cemetery.

    MILLERSBURG -- Charles "Bud" Burrell, 80, formerly of Herndon and Pitman, died at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 1991, at Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg, where he had been a resident since September.
    Born Dec. 10, 1910, in Herndon, he was the son of the late John Jackson and Carrie Mae (Geist) Burrell. He was married to the former Julianne Baum, who died in 1972.
    Mr. Burrell lived most of his life in Herndon. He moved to Pitman in 1976.
    He was educated at Herndon area schools.
    He was a retired carpenter and factory worker. He was last employed by American Novelty Works, Herndon, retiring in 1974.
    Mr. Burrell was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Herndon, and was a life member of Herndon Fire Company.
    He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Lenker of Herndon and Sandra Drumheller of Halifax; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Wolfe of Herndon.
    He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Austin, in 1935.
    The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church by the Rev. Robert A. Kerchoff. Burial will be in Herndon Cemetery.
    Visitors may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
    Arrangements were made by the Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown RD1.

    HERNDON — Olive I. Grimm, 93, of Herndon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at her home.
    She was born April 11, 1918, in Herndon, a daughter of the late Daniel E. and Mary F. (Wolfe) Baum. She was married to Clarence Grimm, who preceded her in death.
    Olive was employed by Creative Playthings, Herndon.
    She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Herndon, where she was a member of the church choir. She served as judge of elections in Hern- don for many years.
    Olive enjoyed knitting afghans for people and attending the Herndon Senior Center.
    She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Cinda Grimm, of Dalmatia; two grandsons, Sean Grimm and Ryan Grimm and wife Rachael; and several nieces.
    She was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Price and Julianne Burrell, and one brother, Charles Baum.
    A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Zion Lutheran Church, Herndon, with the Rev. Fred Faust officiating.
    Burial will be in St. Paul’s Church Cemetery, Urban.

    Herndon Resident Dies in Hospital
    Clarence A. Grimm, 43, Herndon, who underwent an operation last Friday in the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, died Sunday without regaining consciousness.
    Mr. Grimm, who had been a patient in the hospital five days, had a heart ailment for eight years. He previously had heen hospitalized in Sunbury Community Hospital on two occasions for a total of 24 days.
    Eight years ago, Mr. Grimm spent 10 weeks in the veterans' hospital at Lebanon and eight weeks in the veterans' hospital at Bronx, N.Y., for treatment of an irregularity in the mitral valve of the heart. He also had a lung ailment.
    Mr. Grimm served in the Philipine Islands at the close of World War II, having been in service from March, 1945, To July, 1946.
    The widely known Herndon man was a carpenter and cabinet maker by trade, working for 14 years for Nevin Wolfe and Sons, Herndon. He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Urban.
    Surviving are the widow, the former Olive Baum; two sons, Richard, a music student at East State College, Commerce, Tex., and Gary, a student in the seventh grade of Mahanoy Joint Schools; the father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. A. Lee Grimm, Gratz; two brothers, Curt, Herndon, and Lee, Mechanicsburg, R.D. 2; one sister, Mrs. John Kissinger, Lykens R. D. 2, and several uncles and aunts.
    Funeral services, will be held tomorrow afternoon in Rothermel Funeral Home, Herndon. Burial will be in Urban Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Billow will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home this evening.

    A memorial service will be conducted at the convenience of the family.
