    Charles E. Herb, 49. of Herndon RD, died at 5:55 p.m. Saturday at Sunbury Community Hospital, where he was admitted Friday morning with heart ailment.
    Mr. Herb had resided in the Herndon area for the past seven years. He was born Nov. 27, 1919, in Washington Twp., son of the late Edwin L. and Ida M. Rebuck Herb.
    His wife, the former Pauline M. Klinger, passed away 1964. Mr. Herb had been employed as a coal miner until he was afflicted with miner's asthma. He retired about three years ago.
    He spent over three years in the military service during World War II and served as tank driver with the Cannon Company of the 20th Infantry Division. He was a member of American Legion Post 504 at Mandata.
    Survivors include eight sons Charles E. Jr., of Herndon RD James of Dalmatia RD; Edwin, of Lykens RD; Randy, of Klingerstown; Terry, of Herndon RD; Ricky, of Millersburg and David and Roy, both Lykens RD; four daughters Bonnie, of Herndon RD; Evelyn, of Millersburg; Linda, of Herndon RD, and Donna, of Valley View; two brothers. Lee of Lykens, and Preston, of New Cumberland; 10 sisters, Bertha wife of Maurice Snyder, of Millersburg; Verna, wife of Charles Spade, of Herndon; Alice, wife of Kay Wertz, of Dalmatia RD; Hilda, wife of Bryant Klinger, of Lykens; Mary, wife of Paul Bordner, of Herndon RD; Violet, wife of Raymond Delbert, of Gratz; June, wife of Clayton Shade, of Sacramento; Minerva, wife of Earl Starr, Valley View; Laura, wife of Wallace Knorr, of Kllngerstown, and Caroline, wife of Gilbert Faber, of Millersburg, and several nieces and nephews.
    Services will be held at p.m. Wednesday from the Rothermel funeral home, Herndon. The Rev. Paul Billow will officiate, and burial will be made Klinger's Church Cemetery, Lykens RD. Friends and relatives will be received at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Members of American Legion Post 504 will serve as pallbearers.

    DORNSIFE — Roy Marvin "Bushy" Kahler, 78, of Dornsife, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
    Born May 31, 1935, in Greenbrier, he was a son of the late Norman and Mildred (Mattern) Kahler.
    He graduated from Mahanoy Joint High School a day before his 16th birthday.
    On May 4, 1957, he married Shirley (Klinger) Kahler, who survives.
    He was self-employed, owning and operating Kahler's Auto Body Shop since 1972.
    He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Leck Kill, where he sang in the choir for many years and served on church council. "Bushy" was a life member of the Herndon Fire Company, the Herndon F&AM 702, the IOOF Mahanoy Lodge 551, of Dornsife, and the Klingerstown and Mahantongo fire companies.
    He enjoyed restoring old cars and golfing.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Gary, husband of Patti Kahler, of Dornsife; two daughters, Elaine, wife of Terrance Macon, of Louisiana, and Lisa Reitz, of Klingerstown; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Charlie, husband of Jackie Kahler, of Dalmatia, Willard, husband of Joyce Kahler, of Dornsife, and Paul, husband of June Kahler, of Lancaster.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Guy Kahler, and a sister, Barbara Snyder.
