Funeral services were held Saturday for Mrs. Stella M. Paul, 78, of 212 N. Pine St., Tremont in Simeon United Lutheran Church, Gratz, with the Rev. Robert Logan officiating. Interment was in Gratz Union Cemetery with Reed Funeral Home of Pillow in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Paul died early Wednesday, March 21, in Pottsville Hospital where she had been admitted February 21 suffering with a fractured hip following a fall at her home.
A native of Gratz and a member of Simeon United Lutheran Church, Gratz, she moved to Tremont in 1956 where she resided with her brother-in-law, Frederick Klinger.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Viola Buffington and Anna Lou, wife of John Miller, both of Gratz; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Born in Orwin, Aug. 6, 1920, she was a daughter of the late John and Helen Behney Paul.
Millie and her late husband were the retired owners and operators of Ulsh’s Bakery in Tower City and Dewey Beach, Del.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and a former member of the Porter Tower Lionettes. She and her husband were avid square dancers who traveled around the United States in competitions. She enjoyed traveling.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Russell, on Nov. 24, 2005.
Surviving are three sons, Roger R. and Kerry A., both of Orwin, and Jeffrey L., Muir; three daughters, Barbara L. Taylor and Carol A. Schaeffer, both of Orwin, and Sandra K. Jones, Florida; a brother, John Paul, Camp Hill; two sisters, Gladys Koppenhaver and Mae Minnich, both of Orwin; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday from the Chapel of Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City, with the Rev. Arthur Sonnenberg officiating. Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Orwin.

ORWIN - Gladys I. Koppenhaver, 88, of Orwin passed away Sunday at the Tremont Health and Rehab.
Born in Pottsville, January 21, 1923 a daughter of the late John and Ellen Behney Paul.
Gladys worked for many years at the former Bestok Garment Factory, Tower City. She retired from AMP, Inc. Tower City.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Reinerton; Williams Valley Senior Citizens and the former Tower City Senior Citizens, Orwin Fire Company Auxillary and she was also a member of the former Porter Tower City Lionettes.
In addition to her parents she was pre-deceased by her husband, Thomas, 1988 and a sister, Millie Ulsh.
Surviving are her son, Timothy L. Koppenhaver and his wife Vickie, Orwin; one sister, Mae Minnich, Oriwn; one brother, John Paul, Camp Hill; two grandchildren, Timothy and his wife, Randi Lynn Koppenhaver, and Kristy Koppenhaver; two great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Ayden Koppenhaver; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25th at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc. Tower City with Rev. Charles Oldland. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Orwin. ORWIN - Gladys I. Koppenhaver, 88, of Orwin passed away Sunday at the Tremont Health and Rehab.
Born in Pottsville, January 21, 1923 a daughter of the late John and Ellen Behney Paul.
Gladys worked for many years at the former Bestok Garment Factory, Tower City. She retired from AMP, Inc. Tower City.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Reinerton; Williams Valley Senior Citizens and the former Tower City Senior Citizens, Orwin Fire Company Auxillary and she was also a member of the former Porter Tower City Lionettes.
In addition to her parents she was pre-deceased by her husband, Thomas, 1988 and a sister, Millie Ulsh.
Surviving are her son, Timothy L. Koppenhaver and his wife Vickie, Orwin; one sister, Mae Minnich, Oriwn; one brother, John Paul, Camp Hill; two grandchildren, Timothy and his wife, Randi Lynn Koppenhaver, and Kristy Koppenhaver; two great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Ayden Koppenhaver; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25th at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc. Tower City with Rev. Charles Oldland. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Orwin. Viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel. Memorial donations in memory of her should be made to her church, Wiconsico Street, Reinerton PA 17980.

He was a World War II Navy veteran and was a Plank Owner on the Destroyer Thomas E. Fraser.
He owned Ulsh's Bakery in Dewey Beach, Del. and Tower City, and had worked with Ulsh's Travel.
He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Reinerton, Orwin Fire Company, a life member of Tower City American Legion, a former member of Porter-Tower Lions Club, a member of Distlefink Airplane Club, and was an avid square dancer who traveled around the United States to competitions. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold and Dervin; a sister, Elizabeth.

Roger R. Ulsh was born on 19 October 1943, Orwin, Schuylkill County, PA.3,4,5 He was the son of Russell Herman Ulsh and Millie F. Paul.1 Roger R. Roger R. Ulsh, Sr.
October 19, 1943 ~ June 1, 2024 (age 80)
Roger R. Ulsh, Sr., 80, of Tower City (Orwin), passed away early Saturday morning, June 1, 2024 at his home with his family by his side.
Roger was born, raised, and resided in Orwin his entire life. He was a 1961 graduate of the former Porter Tower High School.
After over 40 years of service as a steel worker, Roger retired at the former Bethlehem Steel.
He was a member of the St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Orwin.
Roger always looked forward to his trips to the casino where many memories were made. He enjoyed collecting all kinds of memorabilia, including various NASCAR items. He had a talent for handywork and could always be found tinkering around the house. Above all else, family was everything to him. From the famous family card parties to doing all kinds of projects with his grandchildren, Roger was at his happiest surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Millie Paul Ulsh; two sisters, Barbara Taylor, and Sandy Jones.
Surviving are his wife, Joanne E. Welsh Ulsh, to whom he would he celebrated 60 years of marriage with on June 18; three children, Lisa Klinger and her husband Terry, Florida, Roger Ulsh Jr., and his wife Jill, and Jeremy Ulsh and his wife April, both of Tower City; one sister, Carol Schaeffer and her husband Jack, Orwin; two brothers, Kerry Ulsh and his wife, Carol, Orwin, and Jeff Ulsh and his wife Kathy, Delaware; nine grandchildren; one great grandson with another on the way; numerous nieces and nephews; his beloved Doberman dogs.
Family and friends are invited to graveside services on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 2:00 PM from the St. Peter's Cemetery, Orwin, with Pastor Annette Shutt officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1320 Lingelstown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110, who took excellent care of Roger the past few weeks.
