• Rufus Monroe Kimmel was born on 8 January 1894, Barry Township, Schuylkill County, PA.²
• He was the son of John K. Kimmel and Lovina Wolfgang.³
• Rufus Monroe Kimmel married Pearl May Gaskins, daughter of James Nelson Gaskins and Sarah Jane Smith, on 11 September 1920, Fremont, PA.⁴
• In 1930, after the death of Rufus's first wife he was living in Porter Township, Schuylkill County, PA in a household that included 2 children, Wilmer and Carol, and Laura E. (Savadge) Heim, who would become his second wife, as housekeeper, along with Laura's son Guy Heim.⁵
• Rufus Monroe Kimmel married Laura Emma Savidge, daughter of Samuel K. Savidge and Mary Maglada Boyer, on 31 December 1934, Hegins, Schuylkill County, PA.^1,6
• Rufus Monroe Kimmel died on 25 December 1964, Butler Township, Schuylkill County, PA, at age 70.²

  Rufus M. Kimmel
  Rufus Monroe Kimmel, 70, of Millersvlle, Ash;and RD., died Friday morning in his home after an illness of several weeks. Previously a patient in Ashland State Hospital, he had been discharged last week.
  Mr. Kimmel was born in Barry Township Jan. 8, 1894, a son of the late John and Lavina Wolfgang Kimmel.
  A veteran of World War I, he saw active service in France. He was of the Lutheran faith, and a member of the Valley View Post American Legion.
  Twice married, his first wife, the former Pearl Richter, of Good Spring, died previously. There are two children by the first marriage, Wilmer Kimmel and Carol, wife of John Daley, both of Phila.
  His second wife, the former Laura Savidge of Hegins, survives, as do these children: John of Lavelle, Marie, wife of Michael Banach of Philadelphia, Elmer
  with the U.S. Army at Fort Campbell, Ky., Melvin of Chester, and Daniel at home; a stepsonGuy Heim, of Quakertown; 12 grandchildren; a brother, Elmer of Ashland, and a sister Carrie, wife of Clifford Klinger, of Valley View.
  A son, Monroe, was killed killed in an independent mine operation in 1959.
  Funeral will be held Monday afternoon from St. John's Kimmel's Church, Barry Township. The Rev. Lars Staaby, of Lavelle, will officiate at services. Interment will be in Kimmel's Union Cemetery, Barry Township. Buffington Fun[e]ral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.
