Otis 'Junior' Wilson Klinger
Ferryville/Stoddard Wis. -- Otis 'Junior' Wilson Klinger, 89, of Stoddard, formerly of Ferryville, died Friday morning, April 13, 2007, at his home in rural Stoddaard.
He was born Jan. 5, 1918, in Blackhawk County, Waterloo, Iowa, to Otis W. and Grace (North) Klinger. They moved to Ferryville in 1921, and on Sept. 21, 1940, he married Anna Dagon. Otis worked at the Chevrolet Garage in Ferryville for Alfred Kandall. He was the Civilian Conservation Corps, owned and operated the Sportsman Bar in Ferryville and then was drafted into the U.S. Navy. Otis served with the Seabees in the South Pacific. After the war, he returned to Ferryville and built a Mobil Station, where he also sold televisions. Otis also was a commercial fisherman until selling the station to build the Grand Vu Motel. He and Anna operated the motel until 1980, when they moved to rural Stoddard and built a new home. Otis worked for the Corps of Engineers and then, prior to his retirement, worked as a master mechanic for Dairyland Power Plant in Genoa, Wis.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His hobby was wood marcatrine. Otis had served on the Ferryville Village Board and was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa, the De Soto VFW Post 8032, Genoa-DeSoto American Legion Post 246 and Viroqua Eagles Aerie 2707.
Otis is survived by one son, Jan (Sandra) Klinger, Grand Junction, Colo; one daughter, Sharon Tower, Stoddard; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Marie (Gaylon) Peck, Santa Monica, Calif; a special friend, Virginia Henderson, Viroqua, Wis; and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna on Jan. 17, 1994; one granddaughter, Heidi Tower; five brothers, Fred, George, Percy, Glen and Bill Klinger; and three sisters, Beulah Harris, Lila Koob, Bernita Johnston and Blanche Hackett.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 16, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa, with the Rev. Roy Witucki officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Peace Mausoleum at Mormon Coulee Park, rural La Crosse, with Military Rites by VFW Post 8032 and American Legion Post 246. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Thorson-Reetz Funeral Home, Viroqua. Friends may also call after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
The family suggests memorials to hospice.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. - Doris Maree Hayes Peek of Waterloo passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011. She was born May 27, 1921.
She attended Waterloo East High School where she met her future husband, Graydon Peek. They worked together at Rath Packing Co. After an honorable and distinguished service in the U.S. military by Graydon, they married on Feb. 16, 1946, in Independence.
They relocated to Santa Monica in 1985 and have lived there since. Doris was a loving wife, mother, terrific neighbor and loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Graydon, and their daughter, Debra Peek.
Services were Wednesday, Jan. 18, at First Methodist Church, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, both in Santa Monica. Memorials may be made directly to First Methodist Church of Santa Monica, 1008 11th St., Santa Monica, CA 90403.

Willard (Bill) Harris, 82, of 2641 E. 4th St, died at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday at Allen Memorial Hospital from an aneurysm.

Survivors include two nephews, Paul L. Harris of Madison, Calif, and Mark F. Harris of Webster Grove, Mo; a niece, Bonnie Jean Rea of Grand River, Mo; and a cousin, Louise Koob of Jesup.

JESUP – Carlos E. "Scotty" Scott, 67, Jesup, died from respiratory failure, Sunday, April 3, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Jan. 19, 1944, in Independence, the son of William Elewood Scott and Patricia Mae (Hanna) Scott. On April 29, 1962, he and the former Grace Elaine Seemann were married at Zion Lutheran Church-Jubilee, rural LaPorte City. They have made their home around Jesup since 1965 and eight years ago, moved into town. Carlos sometimes known as "Butch" and other times "Scotty" worked 28 years for John Deere and Co. in Waterloo, starting in the foundry and then later on the assembly line. He retired from John Deere in 1995. He was a member of UAW Local 838 in Waterloo, and served as a board member of the Indian Ridge Association, at Lake Rathbun in Southern Iowa. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church-Jubilee, rural LaPorte City.
Mr. Scott is survived by his wife, Grace Scott, Jesup; three daughters: Sharon (Mike) Winters, Jesup, Shelly Durnil (Bob Auchampach), Lake Mills, and Sheila (Wes) Knutson, Jesup; six grandchildren; two brothers: Harry (Connie) Scott, Independence, and Steve (Pat) Scott, Raymond; two sisters: Carol (David) Draper, Cedar Falls, and Billie Jo Tonn, Independence; and a brother-in-law, Harvey See, Independence. His parents, a granddaughter, Amanda Knutson, a sister, Nancy See, and a brother-in-law, Richard Tonn, all preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at Zion Lutheran Church-Jubilee, 12007 Jubilee Road, LaPorte City. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran-Jubilee Cemetery, rural LaPorte City. Visitation will be an hour before services today at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Louise Mary Wright was born October 5, 1934, in rural Buchanan County, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph Emery Wright and Mae (Hilton) Wright. She graduated from the Brandon High School with the class of 1952. For a short time before she was married, she worked as a telephone operator in Independence, IA. On January 25, 1953, she was united in marriage to Floyd John Koob at Zion Lutheran Church – Jubilee. They made their home on Floyd’s family farm south of Jesup, where she farmed alongside her husband and raised their family. He preceded her in death in 2003.
Louise was a member of Zion Lutheran Church – Jubilee.
Louise is survived by one son, Andy (Dawn) Koob; one daughter, Julie (Duane) Kraus, all of Jesup, IA; ? ve grand- children, Kevin (Gina) Kraus, Dean (Diana) Kraus, Scott (Sara) Kraus, Jonathan Koob, Dalton Koob and his special friend Haylee Sparks; two great grandchildren, Dillon Kraus, Drew Kraus; three step-great grandchildren, Elizabeth Armstrong, Elliot Armstrong, and Josh Armstrong.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd Koob; and one sister, Nerme Stainbrook.
