    Claudette L. Satzler
    March 5, 1930 - May 3, 2023
Claudette L. (Dubendorf) Satzler, 93, of Lewistown, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2023, at Valley View Retirement Community, with her family by her side.
Claudette was born on March 5, 1930, in Lewistown, PA, to the late Claude A. Dubendorf and Eulalie (Jouan). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, William G. Satzler III, and three brothers: Peter C. Dubendorf and wife Iris (Rothrock), Albert P. Dubendorf and wife Louise (Watts), and John A. Dubendorf and wife Nancy (Bell).
She is survived by her four sons: Willis E. Breon Jr. of Lewistown, William G. Satzler lV and wife Connie A. (Hanshew) of Maumelle, Arkansas, John R. “Randy” Satzler and wife Denise D. (Hall) of Lewistown, and Bret D. Satzler and wife JoEllen “Jody” (Robinson) of Mifflintown. Surviving grandchildren include: Shane Breon and wife Beth of Dillsburg, Sandy Breon and wife Anne Danahy of State College, Wade Breon and wife Ginger of Duncansville, Brent Breon of Lewistown, Becky Breon and companion Barry Imler of Reedsville, Joshua Asher and wife Anne of Salt Lake City, Utah, Matthew Satzler of State College, Michael Satzler of State College, Casey Satzler and wife Kelly of Harrisburg, and Meghan Geedey and husband Aaron of Mifflintown. Additionally, ten great grandchildren, thirteen nieces and nephews, and a number of great nieces and great nephews survive.
Claudette graduated from Derry Township High School, class of 1948. Upon graduation, she worked in clerical positions for various local employers. However, her last and longest employment was as a data review technician for the Social Security Administration, having retired in 1992. Over her career, she worked for a total of 44 years.
She was a member of the Mifflin County Historical Society and was a Methodist by faith.
Earlier in life, Claudette enjoyed going on fishing trips to Canada with her husband Bill and her sons. She also faithfully attended her sons’ and grandchildren’s athletic events. This included her son Willie’s football games when he was head coach at Indian Valley High School. She and Bill also enjoyed attending local high school girls’ basketball games for many years, particularly the Lewistown Panthers’ games during their back-to-back state championship seasons. Another highlight of her social life included the rapport she had developed with her classmates when in attendance of their frequent get togethers at various local restaurants.
One of Claudette’s great passions in life was genealogy. She completed, in great depth, the family trees on both sides of her families. She enjoyed spending countless hours traveling to courthouses and cemeteries throughout the state doing research, not only for herself, but for others who requested her help for their projects. She was more than happy to help anyone who needed it.
After retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling the country in their motor home, especially to Florida during the winter months.
Claudette greatly loved her grandchildren. She and her husband Bill often took them to local playgrounds and to amusement parks in their motorhome. Overnight visits in the family home were especially fun for them. Additionally, Claudette was always there to lend a helping hand to her family when needed.
The family would like to thank the compassionate caregivers who faithfully and lovingly tended to Claudette’s needs while at home, and to also thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at Valley View Retirement Community who provided exceptional care to Claudette over the past year. Additionally, the family is very grateful to Dr. Jean Reams, who had diligently cared for her with exceptional expertise and compassion over the years.
Per her request, services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The King-Barr Funeral Home LLC, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, has been entrusted with the arrangements. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to: Mifflin County Historical Society, Historic Courthouse, 1 W. Market St., Lewistown, PA 17044, or to the charity of one’s choice.3

    William G. Satzler III
    March 3, 1930 - September 3, 2021
William G. Satzler lll, of Lewistown, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2021, at the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital, with his family by his side.
Bill was born on March 3, 1930, in Harrisburg, PA, to the late William G Satzler ll and Ethel A. (Pierce) Satzler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Laura L. (Satzler) Cunningham (and husband Gary), Nancy Jane (Satzler) Vogt (and husband Carl), and brother-in-law Rodney Kennedy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Claudette L. (Dubendorf) Satzler. Also surviving are his sister Donna L. (Satzler) Kennedy, and four sons: Willis E. Breon Jr. of Lewistown, William G. Satzler lV and wife Connie A. (Hanshew) of Maumelle, Arkansas, John R. “Randy” Satzler and wife Denise D. (Hall) of Lewistown, and Bret D. Satzler and wife JoEllen “Jody” (Robinson) of Mifflintown. Surviving grandchildren include: Shane Breon and wife Beth of Dillsburg, Sandy Breon and wife Anne Danahy of State College, Wade Breon and wife Ginger of Duncansville, Brent Breon of Lewistown, Becky Breon and companion Barry Imler of Reedsville, Joshua Asher and wife Anne of Ogden, Utah, Matthew Satzler of State College, Michael Satzler of State College, Casey Satzler and wife Kelly of Harrisburg, and Meghan Geedey and husband Aaron of Mifflintown. Additionally, nine great grandchildren, eight nieces and nephews, and a number of great nieces and great nephews survive.
Bill graduated from Lewistown-Granville High School, class of 1948. Upon graduation, he was hired by the Pennsylvania Railroad. In 1950, he was drafted by the Army and served in Korea. He then returned to work for the railroad in various positions and retired from Conrail as a conductor on freight trains in 1992 with 44 years of service. He was a member of the United Transportation Union and the Smart TD Alumni Association. Bill was a Methodist by faith.
Earlier in life, he enjoyed fishing locally and in Canada with his wife Claudette and sons, attending his sons’ and grandchildren’s athletic events, and later in life joining former coworkers at monthly breakfast-style get-togethers. He and his wife also enjoyed traveling the country in their motor home after retiring.
Bill raced stock cars at several of the local dirt tracks – primarily Reedsville and Port Royal speedways – both before and after his time in the Army, putting his helmet down in 1953. Shortly after, he married the love of his life Claudette.
Being a spectator of s car racing was always his passion! He sponsored his sons’ karting and micro-s racing careers and occasionally put the helmet back on to join them on the track. From a very young age and throughout his life, he faithfully attended dirt track races with his sons, wife, daughters-in-law, and grandsons at many speedways across the country, but primarily at Port Royal and Williams Grove Speedways. But his heart was always at Port Royal Speedway. When his health no longer allowed him to attend races in person, he was able to watch the races live on the internet. He also enjoyed driving competitively in Nascar sim racing games online for many years with drivers from around the world until the age of 89.
The family would like to thank the compassionate caregivers who faithfully and lovingly cared for Bill’s needs at home for the past year, and the nurses, doctors, and staff at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital. Additionally, and especially, the family is very grateful to Dr. Ricardo Carter and Dr. Jean Reams, who have diligently cared for Bill with exceptional expertise, diligence, and compassion these last several years.
Per his request, services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The King-Barr Funeral Home LLC, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, have been entrusted with the arrangements. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to: Injured Drivers’ Fund c/o York County Racing Club, 568 Yale St., York, PA 17403, to The American Cancer Society, P.O.
