  Born in Pitman, Jaa 21, 1909, she was a daughter of the late Henry H. and Mina M. Evans Maurer.
  She was a retired seamstress at the former Hegins Manufacturing Co., Valley View.
  She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View.
  Her husband, Arthur A., died in 1955.
  Surviving are two daughters, Kathryn M. Kehler and Phyllis M. Klinger, both of Lebanon; a son, John H., Pottstown; two sisters, Helen Ceton, Pitman, and Florence E. Maurer, Palmyra; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
  Private graveside services were held Monday morning at St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View. The Rev. George S. Reynolds officiated. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.

  Henry H. Maurer, 77, lifelong resident and retired farmer of Pitman, died at his home Friday at 1 p.m. He was in failing health the cast few years and had been bedfast for one week prior to his demise.
  Son of the late George and Catherine Herb Maurer, he was born in Pitman January 11, 1886. His wife, Mina Evans Maurer, preceded him in death October 31, 1956.
  Surviving are the following chil dren, Mrs. Maud Scheib, Leba-I non; Helen, wife of Leon Snyder, Boyertown: Miss Florence Maurer, at home; Robert. Jay and Leon Maurer, all of Pitman. Fifteen grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren survive as well as two brothers, Peter Maurer, Hegins RD 1, and John Maurer, Ashland RD 1.
  Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Rothermel Funeral home, Klingerstown RD, with burial in Zion's Church cemetery at Pitman. Rev. Albert Kline, Pitman, pastor of the Evangelical Congregational Church, will officiate. Friends and relatives will be received at the funeral home Monday evening.

  George Sylvester Scheib, age 41 years, died at his home in Valley View on Saturday.
  Mr. Scheib was a son of John and Bertha (Miller) Scheib and was a native of Hegins Township.
  Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mary Straub Scheib, one daughter, Mrs. Paul Troutman, Elizabethville, and two sons, John Soheib, stationed with the Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and Lamar Scheib, at home.
  Other survivors are his mother, Mrs. Bertha Scheib, of Valley View; a sister, Mrs. Elverdia Welker of Gratz, and three brothers, Stanley Scheib, Valley View, and Harold and Arthur Scheib of Hegins.
  Services were held from the Buffington Funeral Home, Valley View, Wednesday afternoon. Rev. Dr. D. I. Sultzbach, pastor of the Sacramento Lutheran Parish officiated and interment was made at Valley View.

  Donald R "Hosey" Scheib, 87, of Dunnellon, Fla., formerly of Hegins, passed away Thursday at the home of his son in Harrisburg.
  He was born Feb. 8, 1930, in Hegins, a son of the late Harold E. Scheib and Flossie A. Huntzinger Scheib.
  He was a 1947 graduate of the former Hegins Township High School. He was a coal miner and retired as a truck driver for L.S. Geist Trucking, Hegins.
  He was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins. Hosey enjoyed hunting and fishing and in his later years quilting.
  He is survived by his wife, Janice D. Otto Scheib, to whom he was married for 69 years; three sons, Keith D. Scheib and his wife, Penny, Pageland, S.C., Frederick E. Scheib and his wife, Sharon, Lynchburg, Va., and Eric J. Scheib and his wife, Katie, Harrisburg; a daughter, Polly A. Bolich and her husband, Daniel, Sacramento; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; a brother, Roger Scheib, Birdsboro; two sisters, Sally Gandy, Harrisburg, and Nancy Kline,Valley View; nieces and nephews.
  Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins, with the Rev. Warren Egebo officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service. A gathering with the family will be held at the church following the service. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.
