  • William Robert Klinger is also referred to as William Henry Klinger in some sources.3
  • He was born on 25 May 1869, Dauphin County, PA. According to his Death Certificate he was born on May 25, but one of several cemeterly istings gives his age at death as 39 years, 10 months, and 8 days, which would make his birth date as May 23.4,5
  • He was the son of John Klinger and Sarah A. Buffington.2
  • Some sources record that William Robert Klinger was born in August 1868.1
  • He married Emma Erdman, daughter of Magdalina (?), circa 1888.1
  • At the time of the 1900 Census, William and Emma were living on North Second Street in the borough of Lykens, Dauphin County, PA, where William was a mine laborer. They had, apparently, been married 12 years and had given birth to 2 children, both of whom were then living -- Clarence and Eva.6

  • He was buried on 4 April 1909, at Calvary United Methodist Church cemetery, Wiconisco, Dauphin County, PA; William's burial is listed twice in the published cemetery record, once in second section 2 row 3 and again in rows 4 and 5.7,8
  • In 1910, William's widow Emma was living on North Second Street in Lykens "on her own income." She was head of a household that included her daughter Eva and a son "Clarence Romberger," along with her widowed mother Magdalina Erdman. According to the Census, Emma was the mother of 5 children, 2 of whom were alive in 1910.9

Albert Garfield Klinger1,2

M, #29339, b. 18 May 1884
  • Last Edited: 18 Nov 2022
  • Albert Garfield Klinger was born on 18 May 1884, Lykens, Dauphin County, PA.1,2
  • He was the son of John Klinger and Sarah A. Buffington.1
  • Albert Garfield Klinger married Maude M. Gottshall, daughter of Michael Gottshall and Elizabeth Bingaman, circa 1906.3,4
  • What happened to Albert after 1910 (and the birth of daughter Evelyn) is unclear. At the time of the 1910 Census, his two children and wife, Maude, are listed under Maude's maiden name "Gottshall" as living with Maude's parents in Pillow (Uniontown), PA. Maude is listed as "married." In 1920, however, Maude is listed under her maiden name as "single" and living as a servant in John Shomper's household. At some point she married John Shomper.
Albert does not appear to be listed in PA census listings after 1900. He does, however, show up in some Social Security Administration records as having applied for benefits under SSN: 203-10-8065, apparently in Mar 1938, but he does not appear in the online versions of the SSA's death index.
A newspaper obituary for his sister Annie, published 01 Oct 1931 lists him as one of her survivors. He is not, however, listed among his mother's survivors in 1924.5,6,7,8,9
