In 1920, however, the Census lists Maude under her maiden name "Gottshall" as living in the household of widowed John Shomper as his servant. Maude herself is listed as "single." She continued to be listed as "Maude Gottshall" in the Census records until 1940. For example, in 1930 she is still listed as John Shomper's housekeeper.8,9,10,11

Mrs. Maude M. Shomper, 84, 704 E. Wiconisco Ave., Tower Gardens, widow of John Shomper, died yesterday at Pottsville Hospital. She was admitted Nov. 14.
Mrs. Shomper, born in Pillow, was a daughter the late Michael and Elizabeth Bingeman Gottschall.
Her husband died in 1939.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Donna Hoffman, Tower City; two sons. Dean, Bethesda, Md; James, Littletown; one stepson, Lester Shomper, Tower City; one sister, Kate Espy, Tyrone; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday morning from the from the Stewart Dreisigacker Funeral Home, Tower City with the the Rev. Arthur D. Knoebel, United Church of Christ, Tower City, officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery, Pillow.

MRS. ELIZABETH GOTSHALL
Mrs. Elizabeth Gotshall, one of Pillow's most aged ladies passed away the home of her son Henry at Pillow at 10:00 o'clock Monday evening. Death was caused by complications and the infirmities of old age.
Mrs. Gotshall, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bingaman, was born in Lower Mahanoy Twp., September 15th, 1851 and died at the advanced age of 91 years, 10 months and 4 days. On June 25, 1868 she was united in marriage to Michael Gotshall, who preceded her to the grave some twenty years ago. She was a faithful member of the Pillow Evangelical Congregational Church for many years.
Surviving are the following children: Elmer, of Twin Rock, Pa; Mrs. Katie Espy, of Tyrone; and Henry, of Pillow. William, Shomper, of Tower City; 25 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, two brothers, Edw. Bingaman, of Pillow and John Bingaman, of Gratz.
Funeral services will be held a this afternoon at 2.00 o'clock from the home of her son Henry followed by interment in the Union Cemetery, near Pillow. Further services in charge of Rev. Ralph Hillegras will be conducted after the burial in the Pillow Evangelical Congregational Church.

HALL, MARLENE T., age 82, has gone to join her loving husband of 57 years, Henry A. Hall. Born in Pennsylvania, Marlene passed away January 9, 2009 after a brave fight with declining health. She was a resident of Orlando for over 50 years, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her four children, Carol Arvo, husband Tom, Barbara James, husband Carlos, Steven Hall, wife Leilani and Michael Hall. Five grandchildren, Rick Schoppe, Heather Matthiesen, Jason Hall, Tammy Lewis and Tanya Palomino and five great-grandchildren. Marlene was a singer, writer and a great friend to many with a special gift of laughter. A memorial service will be held on January 13th at 11AM, located at National Cremation Society (formally Family Funeral Care) 7565 Red Bug Lakes Road, Oviedo, FL 32765. The family has requested in lieu of flowers that anyone wishing to do so make a contribution to the Alzheimer Resource Center, 1506 Lake Highland Drive, Orlando,
