    Robert E. Artz, 82, of Mechanicsburg, formerly of West Reading, died September 29, 2007, in HealthSouth, Mechanicsburg where he had been a patient for two days.
    His wife, Helen E. (Williams) Artz, died March 30, 2002. Born in Spring Glen, Schuylkill County, he was a son of the late Paul M. and Faye (Carl) Artz.
    Artz and his wife owned Artz Restaurant, Spring Glen, and he was a partner in the Midland Theater, Valley View. He was employed for 23 years at a funeral home in the Reading area and in New Cumberland for 4 1/2 years, retiring in 1985.
    A member of Bethany Lutheran Church, West Reading, he attended Lycoming College, Williamsport, and was a 1958 graduate of Simmons School of Mortuary Science, Syracuse, NY.
    Surviving are a son, Kim W. Artz, fiance of JoAnn Temple; a brother, Charles Artz of Lebanon; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Arlene (Artz) Reed in 2005, and a son, Richard Artz in May 1998.
    Services will be held Friday at Noon in the Auman Funeral Homes, Reiffton. Burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service.
    The family requests contributions be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, 336 Franklin Street, West Reading, PA 19611.

    Richard R. "Dick" Artz, 52, of Easton, died suddenly Saturday in Easton Hospital.
    Born in Pottsville, May 4, 1946, he was a son of Robert and Helen Williams Artz, Mechanicsburg. He was a graduate of Reading High School and Rhode Island Radio Electronic School.
    He served with the Navy during the Vietnam War.
    He was employed as a technical sales manager for Lucent Technologies, Basking Ridge, N.J., where he worked for 28 years. He was co-owner of A to Z Pellet Stoves, Easton.
    He was a member of Arndt's Lutheran Church, Easton, and its church council. He was a former Boy Scout leader.
    Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, the former Suzanne M. Bush, to whom he was married eight years; a daughter, Jamey Artz, West Lawn; three stepdaughters, Tammy Hoff and Gwyn Forster, both of Reading, and Jill Forster, at home; a brother, Kim, West Reading; a maternal grandmother, Anna Williams, Valley View; paternal grandmother, Faye Artz, Spring Glen; a granddaughter.
    Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from Strunk Funeral Home Inc., Easton. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Easton.

    Isaac T. Byerly
    NORTHUMBERLAND - Isaac T. Byerly, 90, of Nottingham Village, Northumberland, since 1979, a former resident of Sunbury RD1, a retired carpenter, died this morning in the Sunbury Community Hospital. He had. been in ill health since 1979.
    Born in Stone Valley, Herndon RD, Nov. 3, 1892, a son of the late Jonathan M. and Louisa Emerick Byerly, His wife, the former Tamie U. Erdman, died in 1979.
    He lived in the Herndon area until 1945, when he moved to Northumberland and to the Sunbury RD are# in 1960. He later moved to Trevorton in 1976 and lived with his daughter.
    Mr. Byerly worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and retired in 1960.
    He was educated in Stone Valley schools; a member of the United Lutheran Church, Sunbury RD4; Sunbury Golden Age Club; Rockefeller Grange; and Pennsylvaia Railroad Retired Men's Association No. 6.
    He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Herbert Lebo of Trevorton; two sons, Lawrence of Gratz and Melvin of Vienna, Va; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
    The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the United Lutheran Church, Sunbury RD4, by the Rev. Vitolds Gobins. Burial will be in Stone Valley Cemetery, Hickory Corners.
    Friends may call i in the Robert Foust Funeral Home, Trevorton, from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.
    Donations in his memory may be made to the United Lutheran Church, Sunbury RD4.
