HALIFAX- Ralph S. Kieffer, age 87, of Kinsinger Road, passed away on August 29, 2018 at his home.
Ralph was born September 1, 1930 in Dornsife, son of the late James Burlington Kieffer and Elma Loviana (Bohner) Kieffer. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Albert and Harry and Sisters, Anna Ritter and Florence Eckler.
He was the husband of Catherine H. (Hassinger) Kieffer of Halifax.
He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and received the National Defense Medal and served with the 921st AC Wing Squadron APO677, Keesler AFB, Missisippi. He also served in the PA National Guard and had duties in Newfoundland, Canada and Olmstead AFB, Harrisburg
He was a retired livestock inspector for the USDA of PA. He also had worked in the past for Brubakers, Millersburg, Bethlehem Steel, Harrisburg, Harman Stove Co, Halifax and had served in the past as Halifax Township Supervisor. . He had memberships with the American Legion , Millersburg and Gratz VFW Post 2385 and was a past Commander. He also had memberships with the Herndon Lodge #702, Harrisburg Consistory and Tall Cedars.
Ralph was always a farmer, enjoyed working the land. He was an excellent hunter and marksman. He enjoyed his trips to Potter County and the Clinton County family camp along with outings to many state parks and Kentucky. He loved his John Deere, and enjoyed mowing the grass whether it was necessary or not and always looked forward to weekend gatherings with family and friends. He would always remind regulars by phone if they missed Sunday dinner.
He is also survived by his twin brother, James P. Kieffer, Klingerstown, 3 sons, Glenn E. and (Jan E.)Kieffer; David B. (Tena) Kieffer, and Miles E. (Lori) Kieffer, all of Halifax, and daughter, Carol (Stephen C.) Schaubhut, Dover, PA; 9 Grandchildren, Stacey, Seth, Lucas, Lane, Brent, Lylah, Tess, Austin and Colby; 11 Great Grandchildren, Sierra, Zekiah, Samuel, Benjamin, Emily, Paisley, Aspen, Darcy, Evelyn, Violet and Riley.
There will be a viewing at Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home Inc., Elizabethville on Saturday, 1st of September, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and services will start at 11 AM. Burial with military honors will follow at Himmels Church Cemetery, Rebuck.
The family would like to thank all the friends, neighbors and medical professionals who made his last months comfortable.

HALIFAX- Ralph S. Kieffer, age 87, of Kinsinger Road, passed away on August 29, 2018 at his home.

John William Shaffer, 89, of Dalmatia, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at his daughters home in Klingerstown,where he was cared for since June.
John was born in Dalmatia, PA on June 14, 1931, a son of the late Katie (Kehres) and Alvin Shaffer.
He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor M (Haas) Shaffer who passed away March 21, 2009. He was also preceded in death by two brothers Benjamin "Benj" and Edward Shaffer.
He graduated from the Mahanoy Joint High School and worked as a farmer.
He was a former President of Shaffer Productions Inc.
He was a member of the PA Farm Bureau, Pa Grange, and the Hickory Corners Fire Company.
His grandchildren and great grandchildren brought great joy to his life.
John is survived by three daughters, Judy A., wife of Glenn Turner, of Biltmore Lake, NC; Cindy L., wife of Douglas Wetzel, of Dalmatia; Jean E., wife of Shannon Dietrich, of Klingerstown; one son, Alvin D, husband of Teri Shaffer, of Dalmatia; 7 grandchildren Katelyn Myers and husband Gattlin, Spenser Snyder, Logan, Riley, Katie, and Lanie Shaffer, and Haley Dietrich; great grandson Beckham Myers and great granddaughter Raleigh Myers; a sister, Barbara, wife of Gerald Romberger; and brother, Elwood "Charlie" Shaffer; as well as nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Saturday April 17, 2021 from 10-11 AM at Zion Stone Valley Church, Dalmatia with the funeral service following at 11:00 am with Pastor Curtis Zemencik and Pastor Mark Mantz officiating. Due to current health concerns masks will be required at all times within the church. Thank you for honoring the family's request. Interment will follow at Stone Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Zion Stone Valley Church, 1899 Mountain Rd, Dalmatia, PA 17017.

She was born April 27, 1931, in Pitman, a daughter of the late Daniel and Edna (Fetterolf) Haas. On April 17, 1954, she married John W. Shaffer, who survives.
Eleanor was educated in the Pitman area schools and the Hegins Township High School.
She was a homemaker and helped on the family farm.
She was a member of Zion Stone Valley United Church of Christ at Dalmatia.
Eleanor loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, cooking and baking cookies.
