Crusie M. Carl, 91, of RD1 Hegins, died Thursday at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center, Tremont.
Born in Spring Glen, April 22, 1904, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Hannah Bowman Carl.
She was a retired seamstress who worked in local garment factories.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sacramento.
Surviving are a son, John Herb, Hegins; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from Robert Miller Funeral Home, Valley View. The Rev. Curtis Zemencik will officiate. Interment will be in St. Andrew's United Methodist Cemetery, Valley View. There will be no calling hours Sunday evening.

- John's obituary lists his parents as "Ash Herb" and Crusie M. Carl Herb. It is unclear exactly who "Ash Herb" was. Some sources identify him as "Harry Edgar Herb," (Jun 26, 1890-August 16, 1940), but there appears to be little evidence that he and Crusie Carl were married or that he was the father of John L. Herb. Harry Edgar Hedrb died unmarried in 1940.1,4,5

John L. Herb, 92, of Schuylkill Center, Pottsville, formerly of Hegins, passed away Friday at the center.
He was born in Spring Glen, March 10, 1926, a son of the late Ash Herb and the late Crusie M. Carl Herb.
John served in the Army during World War II from 1944-46.
He ran a small carpet business, but most of his working career was spent in the trucking industry. He had also worked at the former Penn Reel, Hegins.
John and his wife enjoyed camping and spending time in their winter home in Daytona Beach, Fla. They enjoyed family gatherings and reunions. He also enjoyed playing cards with his family and golfing when he was able to do so. John was a sports fan and enjoyed watching various sports. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.
He attended St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View.
His wife, Martha F. Shade Herb, to whom he was married for 68 years, passed away in 2013. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Patricia A Erdman.
He is survived by a son, Jack L. Herb and his wife, Jean, Hegins; three grandsons, Troy Erdman and his wife, Kim, Enola, Brad Erdman and his wife, Kristen, Columbus, Ohio, and Jeremy Erdman and his wife, Nikki, Valley View; three granddaughters, Nicole Poletti and her husband Mike, Valley View, Julie Rizzardi and her husband, Cory, Wesley Chapel, Fla., and Amanda Horoschak and her husband Matthew, Hegins; 13 great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, with the Rev. Duane Bardo officiating. Burial will be made in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the John L. Herb Memorial Fund, c/o St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 221, Valley View, PA 17983. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, has charge of arrangements. Condolences can be left for the family at www.buffingtonreed.com.

Harry W. Deibert, age 71 years, died at his home in Hubley Township, Schuy|kill County, October 23.
Mr. Deibert was a son of the late David and Catherine (Koppenhaver) Deibert, and was a native of Lykens Township, Dauphin County. He was a member of Coleman's Lutheran Church, Lykens Township, and the F. and A. M. Lodge of St. Petersburg, Florida.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Neda Carl Deibert; three sons, Russell, Paul and Harold, all at home, and a sister, Mrs. Wellington Hoffman of Donaldson.
Services were held from the Buffington Funeral Home, Valley View, Sunday afternoon. Rev. Richard Jones, pastor of Coleman's Lutheran Church officiated and interment was made in the Coleman's Church Cemetery.2
