    Mrs. William Wood II, 51, of Long Beach, Calif., the former Ruth Clark, Sunbury, died Thursday in a Long Beach hospital after suffering an embolism while recovering from recent surgery. Funeral services were held today in Long Beach.
    Mrs. Wood was born in Sunbury Dec. 2A, 1913, daughter of the late William Clark, and the late Mrs. Cordella Clark Geise. She left Sunbury as a young woman.
    She was a graduate of Sunbury High School and Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing, and took graduate courses at Columbia University. At the time of her death she was serving as head surgical nurse at the Veteran's Administration Hospital, Long Beach.
    Surviving are her husband, a son, William III, serving with the U.S. Air Force; and two half-brothers, Sam Geise, Madrid, Spain, Harold Geise, LaCanada, Calif.

    Dr. Samuel B. Geise, 59 years old, 485 Chestnut Street, prominent city physician, died at 7 o'clock this morning at a hunting camp. in South Carolina folattack, according to a telephone message received by Mrs. W. S. Wentzel, wife of the city specialist, with whom the victim was hunting quail, in the southern region.
    Dr. Geise suffered an attack at 2 a. m. this morning and his condition. gradually waned until death, it was stated. Dr. Wentzel is enroute to Sunbury with the body and is expected late this evening.
    Dr. Geise, Dr. Wentzel and Luther Smith, Winfield, left Sunbury Saturday night for their annual quail hunting excursion. They planned to return next Sunday.
    The deceased in was born at New Berlin 1877. He was reared and received his preliminary education in the schools of that section and for several years taught various schools in Union County. He graduated from Susquehanna University and from the Medico Chi (now merged with the University of Pennsylvania) in Philadelphia in 1903 where he received his M., D. degree.
    After graduation he spenti about two years practicing medicine in the Indian Territory ini the west. Returning east, he started practice at Jersey Shore where he remained until coming to Sunbury in 1906.
    Dr. Geise was on the visiting staff of the Evangelical Hospital, Lewisburg, and was actively identified with this institution. He was prominent in medical circles and was an ardent sportsman.
    For years he hunted big game in the far north and trophies of his hunting are prominently displayed in his offices on S. Fourth Street and at his home. He was one of the founders and directors of the "Carson Gun Club," local organization owning a hunting tract in Lycoming, County.
    Surviving are: His widow and the following children: Ralph, a student in the Jefferson Medical School; Robert, a student in the Philadelphia School of Arts and Designing; Miss Kathryn, Reading and Samuel Jr. and Harold at home.

    DEATH CLAIMS WIDELY KNOWN COUNTY DOCTOR
    Dr. S. B. Geise, of Sunbury, Dies in South Carolina.
    Dr. Samuel B. Geise, 62, prominent Sunbury physician and surgeon, died suddenly yesterday while hunting quail near Alcohe, South Carolina. Death resulted from an acute heart attack.
    Dr. Geise, a former president of the Northumberland County Medical Society and surgeon on the staff of the Mary Packer Hospital at Sunbury, had accompanied Dr. W S. Wentzel and Leroy Fleming, of Sunbury, and R. Smith, of Winfield, on a hunting trip into North Carolina. The party left Saturday to spend a week in the southern state.
    It is believed Dr. Geise overexerted himself while tramping fields and thus further weakened a previously impaired heart.
    The physician had been successfully engaged in the practice of medicine and at Sunbury the past 32 in addition surgery, to these activities at the Mary Packer Hospital, also conducted a private hospital at the county seat. He was a close associate of Dr. Harold Foss, of the Geisinger Memorial Hospital, Danville, and the two frequently operated together in surgical clinics.
    Surviving Dr. Geise are his widow and five children. The body is to be returned to Sunbury today.

    SUNBURY - Samuel L. Geise, 74, of Sunbury RD2 died at 9:20 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 1994, at his home.
    Born May 30, 1919, in Sunbury, he was a son of the late Dr. Samuel and Cordella (Lahr) Geise. He married the former Betty J. Eaves in 1944.
    He was a 1937 graduate of Sunbury High School and a graduate of the RCA Institute, New York City.
    Mr. Geise served in the Marine Corps and later in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
    He was employed as an electrical engineer for the RCA Corporation retiring in 1981 after 38 years of service.
    He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Samuel L. of Northumberland and Peter D. of Boston, Mass; two daughters, Gretchen G. Walberg and Dolores M. Seasholtz, both of Sunbury; four grandchildren; one brother, Harold E. of LaCanada, Calif., and two half brothers, Dr. Ralph Geise of Palo Verdes, Calif., and Robert Geise of San Diego, Calif.
    He was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Clark and one half sister, Kathryn Geise.
    A private memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
    Funeral arrangements were made by the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St.

    She was born May 25, 1921, in Wauseon, Ohio, a daughter of the late John F. and Olive (Lochbihler) Eaves. On April 26, 1944, she married Samuel Lahr Geise, who preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1994.
    Betty June was raised in Ohio and New York state, and was a 1938 graduate of Sherburne High School, Sherburne, N.Y. She graduated from Morrisville State College in 1940.
    She was a homemaker, a member of Zion Lutheran Church, and a life member of the Northumberland County Historical Society.
    Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Samuel Lahr, Jr. and Gunilla Bjerkman Geise of Northumberland, and Peter D. and Nancy Geise of Underhill, Vt; two daughters and one son-in-law, Gretchen G. and Mark W. Walberg and Dolores Geise, of Sunbury; five grandchildren, Mattias Samuel Geise of New York City, Jennifer Tankersley of Sunbury, Amy (Harmon) and her husband Tim Kelly of Lewiston, Maine, Anna Lisa Harmon and her fiancée, David Lloyd, of Richmond, Va., and Adam Boedker and Athelney Woolnough of Bedford, Mass; four great-grandchildren: Evan and Lucas Kelly, Madeleine and Sebastian Woolnough; two stepgrandchildren, Elizabeth and Anne Parmalee; four brothers, Scott Eaves of Earlville, N.Y., Charles Eaves of Cobleskill, N.Y., Thomas Eaves of Lowville, N.Y., and James Eaves of Martinsburg, W.Va.
    She was preceded in death in addition to her husband and parents by two sisters, Virginia VanVleck and Hazel Bohnert, and two brothers, Jack Eaves and Bob Eaves.
    A private memorial service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
