    Mrs. Phrana C. Manney SHAMOKIN - The funeral for Mrs Phrana C. Manney, 70, of 201 W Mulberry St will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the Farrow Funeral Home, Shamokin, by the Rev. Alfred Bashore. Burial will be in Odd Fellows, Cemetery, Shamokin.
    Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and Monday until the time of the service.
    Mrs. Manney died yesterday in Sunbury Community Hospital, where she had been hospitalized since Nov 5. She had been ill for nine months
    Born in Shamokin Aug. 26, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Daniel M. and Sally K Shott Shaffer She married George Manney in 1942.
    Mrs Manney was a lifetime resident of Shamokin and a 1932 graduate of Shamokin Area High School, where she was class treasurer She retired in 1977 as an inspector at the Arrow Co.
    Mrs Manney was a member of' Trinity Lutheran Church. Shamokin. Senior Citizens and Shamokin Area High School Athletic Boosters. She was a cheerleader adviser for Shamokin Area High School for 20 years.
    In addition to her husband, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Olive Bogar of Mechanicsburg, and two brothers, Robert Shaffer of Pickens, S C.. and Elwood Shaffer of State College. A brother died in 1983.

    Born in Pillow April 29, 1893, Mrs. Bendel was a daughter of the late P. M. Shaffer and the former Sally Shott.
    Mrs. Bendel moved to Shamokin as a child. She was graduated in 1911 from Shamokin High School, and was once employed as office clerk at the former Taubel Mill.
    She was married July 14, 1923, in the Lutheran Church, Sunbury, to Norman A. Bendel. Mrs. Bendel was a member of First United Methodist Church and Senior Citizens.
    Surviving in addition to the husband are two daughters, Mrs. George (Jean) Brown, Orefield, and Mrs. Marvin (Fay) Caber, New Castle, Del; three grandchildren, two greatgrandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Olive Bogar and Mrs. George (Phrana) Manney, Shamokin, and four brothers, Malcolm Shaffer, Hazleton; Charles Shaffer, Shamokin; Robert Shaffer, Pickens, S. C, and J. Elwood Shaffer, Grosse Pointe, Mich.

    John D. Bogar, 1003 South 17th Street, Harrisburg, husband of a former Shamokin woman, died suddenly, according to word received today.
    Mr. Bogar was the husband of Olive Shaffer Bogar, a former Shamokin school teacher. Mr. Brogar, 74, was graduated from Penn State University with a degree of mechanical engineering.
    After graduation, he became affiliated with Bethlehem Steel Company, rising from the position of engineer to the post of super intendent of the Steelton plant. He held the post until his retirement four years ago.
    Survivors include the widow, three sons, Robert, Allentown; William, Boston, Mass., and James B Harrisburg, and eight grandchildren.

    Born July 15, 1921 in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late John D. and Olive M. (Shaffer) Bogar, and was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert S. Bogar.
    James was a 1939 graduate of the former John Harris High School and a 1943 graduate of Penn State University School of Architecture, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau, Scarab and Pi Gamma Alpha. He was a senior partner at Bogar, Bink and Kuntz Architects.
    Presently a member of Shiremanstown United Methodist Church, he was formerly a member at Steven's Memorial United Methodist Church, Harrisburg, where he was active in the Chancel Choir and on the Official Board. He was a former member of the Cosmopolitan Club and the West Shore Country Club; and was currently a member of the American Institute of Architects; the Robert Burns Lodge, F&AM; Harrisburg Consistory, and the Pennsylvania Farm Show Commission after being appointed by former governor, Dick Thornburg; was an avid golfer and was an Army Veteran of World War II, Army Engineers Battalion, during which time he served in the South Pacific and Korea.
    Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Margaret (Peg) Snyder Bogar; one son, Michael (and his wife Deborah) Bogar, Harrisburg; 2 daughters, Nancy B. (and her husband, Ronald) Herd, Mechanicsburg and Susan B. (and her husband George) Dimoff, Camp Hill; one brother, William Bogar, Farmington, Maine; 5 grandchildren, Gregory Herd, San Diego, CA, Thomas Herd, Landisburg, Jennifer Baltgalvis, Mechanicsburg, Rebecca Dimoff, Camp Hill and Kristina Herd, Mechanicsburg; and 3 great grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 2, 2009 at Shiremanstown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John L. Kurtz, his pastor officiating. Friends will be received from 10 a.m., until time of services. Burial with military honors will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park.
    Memorial contributions may be made to his church, 125 East Main Street, Shiremanstown, 17011, or to the Care Assurance Fund at Bethany Village, 5225 Wilson Lane, Mechanicsburg, 17055.

Peg loved swimming, and had been a Red Cross Swimming Instructor. She enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid golfer, but mostly, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
    Her beloved husband, James B. Bogar passed away in 2008 after 62 years of marriage.
    Surviving are her son: Michael J. (and his wife, Deborah) Bogar, Harrisburg; 2 daughters: Nancy B. (and her husband, Ronald) Herd, Mechanicscburg and Susan B. (and her husband, George) Dimoff, Camp Hill; 5 grandchildren: Gregory Herd, Thomas Herd, Jennifer Baltgalvis, RebeccaPelow, and Kristina Herd; and 6 great-grandchildren.
    Her brother, George Snyder, Jr. preceded her in death.
    Services will be held 11:30 am Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in her church, 125 East Main Street, Shiremanstown, 17011 where friends will be received from 10:00 am until 11:15 am. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park.
    Contributions may be made in her memory to her church or the American Heart Association.
