    Services for Lester A. Runkle, 78, Star Route, Valley View, who died Monday at Hershey Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Buffington Funeral Home, Valley View. The Rev. David Thompson, Sacramento, will officiate. Interment will be in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins.
    Born Oct. 12, 1912, in Northumberland County, Runide was a son of the late James and Jestie Rothermel Runkle.
    Mr. Runkle was a member of Tri-Valley Bible Church, Valley View.
    He was a retired miner and former employee of Gold Mills, Pine Grove.
    His wife the former Gertie Krissinger, died in 1979.
    Surviving are three sons, Earl, Hegins; Raymond, Spinnerstown, and Clarence, Sellersville; a sister, Eva Runkle; Gratz; three grandchildren; one great-granchild.

    Mrs. Gertie Violet Runkle, 63, wife of Lester A. Runkle, of Star Route, Valley View, died at 11 Friday morning at her home after an illness of several years.
    Mrs. Runkle was born May 15, 1915 at Shamokin, daughter of the late David and Kate Adams Crissinger. She was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins, and its Ladies Guild.
    Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three sons, Earl, Hegins, Ray, Dryden, N.Y., Clarence, Sellersville; three grandchildren; one brother, Charles Crissinger, Herndon.
    Services will be held Monday morning from the Arthur R. Buffington Funeral Home, Valley View, with the Rev. Donald Wetzel, Hegins, officiating. Burial will be in Friedens Cemetery.
