    Earl E. Klinger, 42, of North Third St., Tower City, died on Tuesday morning in the Veterans Hospital at Lebanon.
    Mr. Klinger, a native of Kantner, Pa., was a son of Mrs. Mary Metz Klinger, and the late George Klinger.
    A World War II veteran, he had served with the U. S. Navy.
    Employed by the Reading Railroad for 20 years, he was a member of the Tower City Evangelical United Brethren Church, American Legion and Junior Mechanics Lodge, of Tower City. He was active in Boy Scout work.
    Surviving are his wife the former June Carl; a daughter Kay, at home; his mother of Tower City, and three sisters: Luella Umberger of Wiconisco; Mrs. Violet Shuey of Levittown, and Mrs. Vivian Adams of Tower City; two brothers, George, of Elizabethville and Vernon of Sinking Spring.
    The funeral was held Friday afternoon from Stewart Dreisigacker Funeral Home, Tower City. Interment was made in Greenwood cemetery, Tower City. The Rev. William Miller, pastor of the Evangelical United Brethen Church of Tower City, officiated at the services.

  • Thelma Cardella Kocher died on 22 June 1972, Dauphin County, PA, at age 59 after being swept away by flood waters. One newspaper account reported:
    Body Of Flood Victim Recovered Near Creek
    With the discovery of a body of a 59-year old RD Elizabethville woman, the Lykens State Police report that as of Wednesday morning, it was believed all persons in their area were accounted for, from the ravages of the flood.
    Police said Thelma Cordela Klinger left her home enroute to work, the morning of June 22. About 5:15 she was driving across the Wiconisco Creek and her car was swept away by the waters. She managed to get out of it, but was apparently caught in the swirling waters. Her body was found June 25 about three-quarters of a mile west of where she left the creek. Her body was released to the Hoover Funeral Home in Berrysburg.
    Lykens Stae Police said thus far, this is the only person listed as dead from the flood in their territory and as of this time there have been no other missing person reports.. The lower end of Lykens had houses washed away but there have been no reports on missing people from them.

    ELIZABETI1VILLE -Funeral services were conducted June 27 for Mrs. Thelma C. Klinger, 59, of Elizabethville RD, who died Thursday, June 22, as a result of the flood, from the Hoover Funeral Home, Berrysburg.
    Mrs. Klinger was swept from her car into the "Black" Wiconisco Creek near North Penn Hide while traveling from Elizabethville to Berrysburg. Her body was recovered near the Wilhour Sawmill.
    Among her survivors is her mother, Mrs. Florence Keener of Elizabethville RD; a sister, Mrs. Mark Engle of Elizabethville RD, and a brother, Vernon Kocher of Elizabethville RD.

    Leonard Roy Adams, 67, of Monticello, Ken., died Tuesday.
    Born in Tower City, Sept. 25, 1944, he was a son of the late Mark and Vivian Klinger Adams.
    He was a Navy veteran who served his country with honor. He then worked for the USDA Soil Conservation Division until his retirement.
    He was a member of United Methodist Church, Monticello.
    Surviving are his wife, Marian Adams; a brother, Robert Adams, Tamaqua.
    In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Local Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 944, Monticello, KY 42633. Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home, Monticello, has charge.

    ORWIN - Kenneth F. Klinger, 70, of Orwin, passed away Friday at the Lebanon VA Medical Center.
    Ken was born August 27, 1941, a son of the late John and Alverta Nelson Klinger.
    He was a 1959 graduate of the former Porter Tower High School.
    He was an Army Veteran.
    He previously worked for TRW; retired from AMP Inc, and recently retired in September from Wegmans Distribution Center.
    Ken was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He was a member of the N.R.A. He also enjoyed playing darts. He was an accomplished ballroom dancer with Arthur Murray School of Dance, Lemoyne.
    He was pre-deceased by his wife, Judith I. Ritzman Klinger, 2008 and a sister Violet Kohr.
    Surviving are his Godson, Kenneth Stover and his wife Mandy and their son, Remington, Salisbury NC; a sister, Alma E. Updegrove; a niece, Debra Fadness, and a great niece, Danielle Fadness all of Rome, NY.
    Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City with Rev. Edward Gobrecht. Viewing will be from 10-11 a.m., at the chapel. Burial with military honors will be held Thursday at 11:30 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Lebanon VA Medical Center.

    She was a member of St. Peter's United Church, Orwin.
    She was a member of Orwin Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
    Surviving, in addition to her mother and stepfather, are her husband of 42 years, Kenneth F. Klinger; her godson, Kenneth D. Stover, North Carolina; two sisters, Deloris Hykes, York, and Janet Sheidly, Bethel; a brother, Mark Ritzman, Saint Clair; a stepbrother, Charles Bowers, York.
    Services were held Tuesday, May 13, from the Chapel of Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City, with the Rev. Edward Gobrecht officiating. Interment was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
    Memorial donations in her name should be made to St. Peter's UCC, 427 Dietrich Ave., Orwin PA 17980.2
