  • "Johann was the companion of Frederick A. C. Muhlenberg on his journey to the forks of the Susquehanna River, June 25-July 2, 1771, although descendants of his cousin, Conrad (1749-1803) of Selinsgrove have claimed the service records. Likely he served in the Revolution and was the First Lieutenant in Captain Michael Wolf's Company, 1776-1780. He farmed the Weiser homestead until it was sold in 1791. This is evident from the account book of the farm which contains records compiled by Conrad, his father Frederick and his grandfather Conrad. Then he settled on land owned by his father-in-law, Johann Philip Klinger, who held four contiguous tracts, warrented to him 1771-1796, patented 1793-1796 for over 1,100 acres along Pine Creek to the south of the gap in Mahantogo Mountains at Spread Eagle (Double Dopplete Adler), present day Klingerstown. He lived in Mahanoy Twp., Northumberland Co., PA. Conrad died September 19, 1805 and is buried at Klinger's church. Letters of administration in his estate were issued March 26,1805 to his eldest son Frederick. Elizabeth, his wife died March 12, 1820 and left a will dated March 2, 1820."
Biographical and Genealogical Annals of Northumberland County (1911):
"Conrad Weiser, son of Frederick, was born April 16, 1753, and on Nov. 12, 1775, was married to Elizabeth Klinger, daughter of Philip. He died Sept. 19, 1804, and is buried at Klinger's Church.
"They had children as follows: Frederick, Jacob, Philip; Hannah, Mrs. George Hepner, Catharine, Elizabeth and Sarah."

Catharina Steinbruch

  • Last Edited: 15 Feb 2024
  • Catharina Steinbruch is also referred to as Catharina Steinbrecher in some sources.
  • She was born on 3 May 1774, Mifflin Township, Dauphin County, PA.1,2
  • She was the daughter of Adam Steinbrecher and Anna Margaretha Hoffman.
  • Catharina Steinbruch was baptized on 31 May 1774, Salem Lutheran Church, Killinger, Dauphin County, PA.3
  • One set of published baptismal records for Salem Evangelical Church, in Killinger, Dauphin County, PA, indicates that Catharina Steinbruch was born on 2 April 1774.3
  • Other sources record that Catharina Steinbruch was born Oley Township, Berks County, PA.4
  • She married Johann Peter Klinger, son of Johann Philip Klinger and Eva Elizabeth Beilstein, circa 1791, Lykens Township, Dauphin County, PA.5
  • The will of Catharina's grandfather, Johan Dietrich Steinbrecher, dated July 3, 1804, as transcribed by Karen Klaene, of Cincinnati, OH, makes reference to "my son Adam[']s daughter now the wife of Peter Klinger." This proves that Peter Klinger's wife was the daughter of Adam Steinbrecher and the granddaughter of Johan Dietrich Steinbrecher. The will was probated in Dauphin County, PA, on January 26, 1805. The probate records apparently are under the name of "John Deetrierich Stonebraker."6
