Steven D. Davis
January 25, 1962 ~ March 11, 2025 (age 63)
Steven D. Davis, 63, of Lykens, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
Steve was born on Thursday, January 25, 1962, a beloved son of Barbara A. (McCormick) Davis of Lykens and the late Gary F. Davis. He married the love of his life, Lori (Evans) Davis, on August 31, 1985, and they looked forward to celebrating their 40th anniversary this year.
Steve was employed for over 20 years at MI Windows & Doors in Hegins. Steve loved to do woodworking in his garage, watching college football, but above all, he loved to both hunt and fish with his dad that taught him the love of these sports. You could always find Steve riding around the Minnich’s Hit area in his truck looking for turkeys, deer, and the occasional bear. Steve enjoyed his trips to the Cape May area, sitting by a fire ring at Knoebels Grove, and trying his luck at the casinos. Steve also loved his community and served as a volunteer with Lykens Liberty Hose Co., #2 for many years. He loved all animals, but most especially his dog, Tilly, and his bunny, Norman. Steve was a friend to many and was always willing to lend a hand or a tool.
In addition to his dad, Steve was preceded in death by his nephews, Chuckie Yerges, Tyler Yerges and his great niece, Isabella Davis, his father-in-law, Buzz Evans, and brother-in-law, Steve Evans.

Davis of Lykens; and his four siblings, Deborah Bush (Kenneth) of Lykens; Ronald (Wendy) of Pine Grove; Kathleen Yerges (Charles) of Joliett; and Ann Marie Buffington (Randy) of Elizabethville. Steve is also survived by his uncles and aunts Charles & Lynn Davis of Indianapolis, IN and John & Joanne Davis of Elizabethtown; his mother-in-law Ethel Evans of Lykens; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Vicki & Harry Laudenslager of Gratz; sister-in-law Barbara Evans of Harrisburg along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
A Celebration of Steve’s Life will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025 at Lykens United Methodist Church, 527 N. Second St, Lykens. Visitation will take place at 11:30. Services will begin at 12:30 PM. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Williamstown immediately following the service.

Joyce Elaine Klinger was born on 3 February 1926, Williamstown, Dauphin County, PA.1,2 She was the daughter of Charles Allen Klinger and Sadie Cecilia Lenker.1 Joyce Elaine Klinger married Lewis B. Scherer Sr. circa 1952.3 Joyce Elaine Klinger died on 25 February 2004, Greensburg, Westmoreland County, PA, at age 78.2
Newspaper obituary:
Joyce E. (Klinger) Scherer, 78, of Jeannette, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg.
She was born Feb. 3, 1926, in Williamstown, the youngest of eight children to Charles and Sadie (Lenker) Klinger.
Surviving are her loving husband of 52 years, Lewis B. Scherer Sr; her four children, Jane E. Martin and her husband, Jay, of Atlanta, Ga., Lewis B. Scherer Jr. and his fiancee, Yenda, and her son, Philip Barrios, of Garden Grove, Calif., Mary Beth "Betsy" Hostert and her husband, Tim, of Greensburg, and Charles "Chuck" Scherer, of Asheville, N.C; and three grandchildren, Jonathan, Sarah and Anna.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Midge Watkins, Helen Rettinger and Mary Sansone; and brother, Arthur Klinger.
She is survived by her sisters, Donna Updegrave and her husband, Ted, and Ruth McCormick; her brother, Harold Klinger and his wife, June; and sisters-in-law, Bertha Batejan and Frieda Mirsch and her husband, John.
Joyce is fondly remembered for her infinite kindness to so many people throughout the years.
After graduation from high school, she attended St. Joseph's Nursing School in Philadelphia, and earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. The majority of her nursing career was spent at Women's Medical, in Philadelphia. With the birth of her family, she relinquished her starched hospital whites for Keds and shorts but she continued to "nurse" neighbors, friends and relatives either with her medical expertise or one of her excellent meals. Many a Pa. State Trooper found a hot meal waiting at the end of a cold winter night or a friend could never pass by without an impromptu banquet being served.
Perhaps most noteworthy was her irreplaceable sense of humor. No matter how bleak a situation might appear, Joyce could always make one see the brighter side.
She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Jeannette.
