Jay Gilbert Erdman was born on 25 February 1918, Upper Mahantongo Township, Schuylkill County, PA.1,3,4 He was the son of William Walter Erdman and Mabel Minnie Wolfgang.1 Jay Gilbert Erdman married Mary Sevilla Koppenhaver, daughter of William Welsey Koppenhaver and Alva Alverta Sausser, on 23 November 1947, Klingerstown, Schuylkill County, PA.5,2 Jay Gilbert Erdman died on 4 May 1990, Hershey Medical Center, Dauphin County, PA, at age 72.1

Erdman rites
Services for Jay G. Erdman, 72, of 616 W. Main St., Valley View, who died Friday at Hershey Medical Center, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from Buffington Funeral Home, Valley View. The Rev. Bruce Dalious, Klingerstown area, will officiate. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Valley View.
He was born in Upper Mahantongo Township, Feb. 25, 1918, a son of the late William and Mabel Wolfgang Erdman.
He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II.
He was a 1936 graduate of Hegins Township High School.
Mr. Erdman had worked as a miner until his retirement.
He was a member of Salem United Church o Christ, Klingerstown area, Tri-Valley Seniors Citizens and Valley View Fine Company.
His wife, the former Mary Koppenhaver, died in 1978.
Surviving are two daughters, Kay Hollenbach, Cressona, and Fay Bixler, Elizabethville; two brothers, Leo, Spring Glenn, and Kenneth, Valley View; three sisters, Helen Reinoehl Klingerstown area, Tillie Rockwell Ashland and Lila Derck, Herndon area; six grandchildren.
