     Herbert Eugene Buffington was born on 16 July 1888, Washington Township, Elizabethville, Dauphin County, PA.¹ He was baptized on 12 September 1888, St. John's (Hill) Lutheran Church, near Berrysburg, Dauphin County, PA.¹ He married Cora Annetta Batdorf on 25 November 1911, Salem Lutheran Church, Elizabethville, Dauphin County, PA.^1,2 Herbert Eugene Buffington died on 23 March 1959, Elizabethville, Dauphin County, PA, at age 70.¹

HERBERT E. BUFFINGTON
Herbert E. Buffington, age 70 years, died suddenly at his home, West Broad Street, town, on Monday.
Mr. Buffington was a son of the late B. Franklin and Clara (Lubold) Buffington and was born July 16, 1888, in Elizabethville. He was a lifelong resident of this community and was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, town.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Cora Batdorf Buffington, and the following children: Edward, Lykens; Robert, of Sheridan; Jay, of Mt. Pleasant Mills, Pa; William, Millersburg R. D; Raymond of Northampton, Pa; Herman, Ernest, Elwood, Adam, John, Harold, Dale and Dean Buffington, all of Elizabethville; Mrs. William Balsbaugh and Mrs. Michael Anoka of Harrisburg; Mrs. Paul Dunleavy and Miss Barbara Buffington of Elizabethville; thirty grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are 8 sister, Miss Erma Buffington of Washington, D. C; and three brothers, Joseph, Ralph and Paul Buffington, all of Elizabethville.
Services will be held from the Buffington Funeral Home, West Main Street, at 2:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Rev. W. Z. Artz, pastor of Salem Lutheran Church, town, will officiate, and interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Cora A. Buffington, 89, of 4273 N. Sixth St., Susquehanna Twp., and formerly of Elizabethville, died Saturday at home.
She was a member of Evangelical Church of Elizabethville.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Verna Balsbaugh with whom she lived, Mrs. Ruth Anoka of Lemoyne and Miss Barbara Buffington of Elizabethville; 13 sons, Herman, Jay, Harold, Dean' and John, all of Elizabethville, Elwood, Dale and Adam, all of Halifax, William of Millersburg RD, Edward of Lykens, Robert of Sherdon and Raymond of Northampton; two sisters, Mrs. Estella DeWees of Millersburg and Mrs. Verna Shultz of Harrisburg; a brother, Oscar Batdorf of Sarasota, Fla; 47 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church, Elizabethville, with the Revs. Steven Dorsett and Donald Raffensperger officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethville.
Friends may call at the funeral home at 103 W. Main St., Elizabethville, Tuesday after 7 p.m.³
