G. Debra "Debbie" Schwalm, 62, died Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at her residence.
She was the wife of Thomas J. Schwalm, to whom she was married 41 years.
Born in Shamokin, on September 18, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Elwood and Lillian (Lesher) Schankweiler.
A 1972 graduate of Line Mountain High School, she was captain of the cheerleading squad her senior year, and was a member of the National Honor Society. Debbie was a 2001 graduate of Lebanon Valley College, where she received her B.S. in Education, and was a member of the Phi Alpha Epsilon Honor Society. She later attended Gratz College, earning her Master's Degree in Education. Debbie was employed as a teacher at Bethel Elementary for 12 years, and worked as an aide at IU 13 for 11 years. She was a member of Life Center Ministries, Harrisburg, and loved cooking and gardening. Debbie especially loved teaching and activities with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Jason, husband of Sara Schwalm, of Richland, and Brent Schwalm, of Myerstown; sisters, Nancy Heim, of Trevorton, Linda, wife of Daniel Dunkelberger, of Sunbury; and grandchildren, Aidan, Macey, and Cooper Schwalm; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 7 p.m. at Myerstown Church of the Brethren, 51 W. Stoever Ave., Myerstown, preceded by a visitation beginning at 5:30 p.m. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tulpehocken Area School District, "In Memory of Debra Schwalm" on memo line. Please mail checks to Tulpehocken District Administration Office, Attn.: Mimi Shade, 27 Rehrersburg Rd., Bethel, PA 19507.

     Lawrence S. Bowman was born on 15 February 1927, Klingerstown, Schuylkill County, PA.3 He was the son of Bertram L. Bowman and Blanche O. Wehry.2

Lawrence S. "Pete" Bowman, 80, of 931 W. Maple St., Valley View, died Thursday at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.
Born in Klingerstown, Feb. 15, 1927, he was a son of the late Bertram L. and Blanche O. Wehry Bowman. He was a 1944 graduate of Hubley Township High School.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He retired as a firefighter for Washington, D.C.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sacramento.
He was also a member of the Washington, D.C. Retired Firefighters Association and Local 36 International Association of Firefighters, Washington, D.C., and the Valley View Fire Company.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Arlen L. Bowman.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth A. Wible Bowman, to whom he was married for 34 years; two sons, David A. Bowman, Strasburg, Va., and Ronald L. Bowman, Wilmington, Del; a stepson, John D. Baker Jr., Elkridge, Md; a stepdaughter, Sandra L. Reddick, Evansville, Minn; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; family friends, Donald and Bernadette Schwalm, Middleburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with the Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating. There will be no viewing. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Paul's Cemetery, Sacramento. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 2263 Main St., Sacramento PA 17968. Condolences can be left for the family at www.buffingtonreed.com.

He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Dauphin County Volunteer Fireman's Association, Upper Dauphin Area Lions Club; and a life member of Elizabethville VFW Post 6343 and Elizabethville Reliance Hose Company No. 1.
