Born in Washington Township December 18, 1878, Mr. Smeltz was a son of the late Jacob, and Barbara (Hoffa) Smeltz. He was engaged in farming for many years until his retirement several years ago. His wife, the former Minnie Keefer, preceded him in death.

HERNDON -- The funeral service for Sonja Idella Zartman, 26, of Herndon will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Rothermel Funeral Home, Herndon.
Miss Zartman died Sunday morning in the Shamokin State General Hospital where she had been a patient for four days.
The Rev. Glenn B. Keidel Jr. will officiate at the service. Burial will be made in the Red Cross Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Miss Zartman was crippled since birth and was never able to walk. She spent much of her life in various hospitals including the State Hospital for Crippled Children in Elizabethtown. Death was attributed to a collapsed kidney.
She was born Dec. 19, 1946. the daughter of Fred and Pauline Zartman, who survive.
Miss Zartman was a member of the Lutheran Church at Red Cross. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Kermit Witmer of Dalmatia; a brother, Dean Zartman of 316 Race St.. Sunbury; and nieces and nephews.

Lucille attended local schools receiving her GED. She married Dean F. Zartman, Sr. Lucille’s favorite thing to do was cook, it was her career and she loved to cook for her loving family. She was a foster grandmother. She loved her pet dog “Sassy.”
Lucille is survived by her sons Dean F. and wife Tina Zartman of Centralia, KS, Jay and wife Taffi Zartman of Sunbury, grandchildren Dawn and husband Christopher Blewett, Karee Zartman, Evelyn Johnston and Grace Johnston, sisters Betty and Lydia Boyer both of Northumberland, brother Ralph Boyer of Tamaqua, sister-in-law Crissie Boyer of Northumberland, nieces and nephews: Steven Boyer, Juanita Boyer, Col. Jeffrey Boyer, James Boyer, Deb Tipler, Colin Boyer, Glenn Boyer and Chris Boyer.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, brothers George and John Boyer and nephew Michael.
Friends and family may visit at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home, Inc. 157 Chestnut St. Sunbury, PA. on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 11 am. Interment is at Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington, PA.
