    PAXINOS -- Jacob A. Walz, 75, of Paxinos RD1, died Saturday evening in Sunbury Community Hospital.
    Born in Stroudsburg, August 4, 1913, he was a son of the late Joseph and Virgie (Doll) Walz. His wife, the former Beatrice DeHaven, died in 1987.
    Mr. Walz, retired in 1975 from Furman's Foods Northumberland RD1, after 23 years of service. He was of the Wesleyan faith. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.
    He is survived by three children, Raymond A. of Sunbury, Mrs. Shirley E. Chamberlain and Dennis A. both of Paxinos RD1; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Adams of Sunbury and Mrs. Mabel Batchler of Brodheadsville;
    A son, Jacob Jr., died in 1961.
    The funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, Sunbury, by the Rev. Wayne G. Wagner, of the Rebuck Wesleyan Church. Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
    Visitors may call at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 7 to 9.

    PAXINOS - Mrs. Beatrice M. Walz, 71, Paxinos RD1, died Thursday afternoon in Sunbury Community Hospital.
    Born in Brodheadsville Oct. 2 21, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Layton and Cora (Miller) DeHaven. She married Jacob A. Walz in 1932.
    She formerly operated a stand in the Sunbury Market House and was of Wesleyan faith.
    In additon to her husband, she is survived by three children, Raymond A. of Sunbury, Mrs. Shirley E. Chamberlain and Dennis A., both of Paxinos; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five brothers and sisters, Joseph DeHaven of Brodheadsville, Mrs. Dorothy Lutjen of Saylorsburg RD2, Mrs. Martha a Siegfried of Pen Argyl, Mrs. Ruth Staats of Nashville, Tenn., and Mrs. Florence Itterly of Tatamy.
    A son, Jacob Jr., died in 1961, and two brothers also preceded her in death.
    The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, Sunbury, by the Rev. Wayne Wagner, pastor of Rebuck Wesleyan Church. Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
    Visitors may call at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

    Ernest H. Reiner
    Ernest H. "Ernie" Reiner, 75, of Klingerstown, died Monday morning at the Mansion Nursing Home, Sunbury, where he had been a resident since June 1996. He was in ill health for the past three years.
    Born in RR1 Dornsife, Upper Mahanoy Township, Aug. 28, 1921, he was a son of the late Harry L. Sr. and Flossie M. Reed Reiner. He was educated in Dornsife area schools.
    He was a retired farmer and butcher, having last been employed as a meat cutter for Boyer's Meats, Klingerstown, retiring in 1979.
    He was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Klingerstown Fire Company and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
    He was preceded in death by two brothers, an infant, Guy Darwin, who was stillborn in 1920, and John, who died in 1974.
    Surviving are his wife, the former Verna A. Stepp; three sons, Glenn A., RR1 Herndon, Carl M., RR1 Dornsife, and David E., Kulpmont; two daughters, Donna D. Snyder, RR1 Dornsife, and Christie A. Klinger, RR1 Klingerstown; a sister, Pauline Rothermel, Reynoldsburg, Ohio; a brother, Harry L. Jr., Sebring, Fla; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
    Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Klingerstown, with the Rev. Peter Nordby officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Reformed Cemetery, Leck Kill. Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, RR1 Klingerstown, is is charge of arrangements.

    KLINGERSTOWN -- Verna A. Reiner, 89, of Klingerstown and Geisinger Life Program in Kulpmont, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Mountain View: A Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Coal Township, where she had lived for several years.
    She was born March 10, 1923, in RR Herndon, a daughter of the late Edwin and Anna (Wolfgang) Stepp. She was married to Ernest H. Reiner, who preceded her in death on May 19, 1997.
    Verna was employed by Quaker State, now Michael Foods, in Klingerstown.
    She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Millersburg.
    Verna will be remembered for her great love of family, friends and animals. She also enjoyed doing word find puzzles.
    She is survived by five children and their spouses, Glenn Reiner, of Herndon, Carl Reiner, of Dornsife, David and Joan Reiner, of Kulpmont, Donna and Rodney Snyder, of Dornsife, and Christie and Don Klinger, of Klingerstown; 14 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; many great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Reiner; three brothers Paul, Bill and Russell Stepp; and one sister, Mary Reidinger.
    Services will be private with interment in St. John's Reformed Cemetery, Leck Kill.
    In lieu of flowers, contributions in Verna's memory may be made to Geisinger Life Activities Program, 1100 Spruce St., Suite 100, Kulpmont, PA 17834.
