  • Elizabeth A. West was born in June 1866.1
  • It is not clear who Elizabeth's parents were. There is an Elizabeth West of the right age listed in the 1870 Census for Mount Carmel, PA, living with William (b. c 1838) and Amanda (b. c. 1841) West, both of whom were born in England. Elizabeth was born in Pennsylvania, according to the Census.
Immigration records suggest that Amanda, born Amanda Greenwood, arrived in New York May 20, 1860, aboard the ship Ellen Austin, which had sailed from Liverpool, England. William West arrived in Philadelphia, December 24, 1853, aboard the City of Manchester, which had sailed from Liverpool.2,3,4,5
  • Moses W. Strohecker and Elizabeth A. West had a relationship, but no marriage records were found for them. It seems relatively clear that Elizabeth was the mother of at least 2 of Moses's children. They apparently lived as husband and wife.1,6
  • At the time of the 1900 Census, Elizabeth A. (Lizzie) West was living in the household of Moses Strohecker as a servant. She was listed as the mother of one child.7
  • She died before 9 October 1971.8
