- Newspaper obituary:
Marguerite L. "Peggy" Kelly Klinger, 83, of Mentor, Ohio, passed away Tuesday at Hospice House of the Western Reserve, Cleveland, surrounded by her family.
Born in Pine Grove, Nov. 10, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Elsie Schwartz Kidwell.
She was very active in the Lake County Democratic Party and was elected Democratic Woman of the Year in 1997. She was also a member of the Mentor Headlands Garden Club for many years and was her grandson, Robbie's, "best friend." Some of her favorite hobbies were doing crossword puzzles and collecting ducks, but she was best known for her collection of more 75 types of miniature donkeys. She was known in the Democratic society as the "party animal," for her vast collection of the Democratic mascot.
One of the many things that her family and friends will miss most was Peggy's "gift of gab." She was always well-versed in many issues of the world and could sit down with you for hours carrying on a conversation, and just when you would think she would have nothing more to say, she would say, "and just one more thing ..."
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles E. Klinger; and siblings, William M. Kelly and George S. Kelly.
She leaves behind a daughter, Sharon (Robert) Bottiggi, Fairport Harbor, Ohio; sons, Keith Klinger (Lee Mercer), Concord Township, and Stephen (Betty) Klinger, Willoughby; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Faith Lutheran Church, 8125 Mentor Ave., Mentor. The family received friends at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, Ohio. Interment was in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chester Township. Visit www.MCVfuneralhomes.com.
