    SHAMOKIN — Steven Wilbert Conrad St., 74, of 23 E. Chestnut St., Shamokin, peacefully passed away amongst his family on Saturday, March 19, 2016.
    He was born in Sunbury on Nov. 3, 1941, a son of the late Wilbert Jennings and Susanna Elizabeth (Lenker) Conrad. On May 18, 1963, he married Margaret Irene (Shingara) Conrad, at Our Lady of Hope Parish, formerly St. Joseph's Paris, Coal Township.
    Steven "Hubcap" was self-employed in the trucking industry as a coal contractor, establishing Steven Conrad Sr. Trucking. He operated in the coal industry for the past 52 years, impacting many, especially his three sons, who all work in the coal and trucking industry.
    He was an active member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Coal Township, where he served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. He was also a 30 year Malvern Men's Retreatant. Steve was commemorated for his 25 years volunteering as a prison Christian growth group minister, bringing his faith to those that were incarcerated.
    He is survived by his dedicated wife of 52 years, Margie; seven dutiful children and 26 devoted grandchildren, Steven W. Conrad Jr. and his, Kandy (Klinger), of Dalmatia, and daughters, Bobbie Ann, Kellie Ann, and Stephanie Conrad; Marjorie Seidel and husband, Jay Jr., of Northumberland, and daughters Chloe Madden and husband, Doug, of Marion Heights, Emma, Myra, and Ava Seidel; Jeffrey Conrad and wife, Sandy (Yancoski), of Coal Township, and daughters Courtney and Devin Conrad; Beth Rovenolt and husband, Jeffrey, of Lititz, and children Joshua Kroh, and Sabrina and Natasha Rovenolt; Katy Bressi and husband, Mark, and children Rocco, Nicholas, Claire, and Anna Bressi; Mary-Elizabeth Lubeskie and husband, Geoffrey, of Manheim, and sons Maxwell, Cole and Syrus Lubeskie; Lee Benjamin Conrad and wife, Crystal (Long), of Leck Kill, and children, Celsey Long, Cameron Newman, Savannah, Lilian, Samantha and Benjamin Lee Conrad; he also survived by six sisters, Elsie Cross, of Kentucky, Viola Mangle, June Benner, Helen Reitz, Shirley Ward and Doris Conrad, of Sunbury; three brothers, George Conrad and wife, Lena, of Montandon, Stanley Conrad and wife, Dorothy, of Sunbury, and Jerry Conrad, of York; two sisters-in-law, Caroline Conrad, of Mechanicsburg, wife of the late Lee Conrad, and Mildred Conrad, of Tennessee, wife of the late Ralph Conrad; Steve, was also a loved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
    Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Susanna Conrad, four brothers, Dennis Conrad, David Conrad, Lee Conrad and Ralph Conrad, as well as brothers-in-law Hugh Cross, husband of Elsie, Art Mangle, husband of Viola, John Heitzelman and Jack Brenner, husbands of June Brenner, Charles Reitz, husband of Helen, and two sisters-in-law, Dorothea Conrad, wife of Dennis, and Dorie Conrad, wife of Jerry.
    A visitation with a viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Hope Church, First and Chestnut Streets, Coal Township, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Steven Frenier, O.F.M., Conv., as celebrant. Those attending Mass should meet at the church at 10:45 a.m.. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Trevorton.
    As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made in his name to two charities that were close to his heart. St. Joseph's in the Hills, Laymen's Retreat League of Philadelphia, Warren Avenue, Malvern, PA 19355 and the Shamokin Pregnancy Care Center, 150 S.

    Mrs. Jennie Sylvesta Artz, respected resident of Spring Glen, wife of the late Irvin Artz, died very suddenly at her home Wednesday evening.
    She was born in Hubley Twp., Feb 26, 1880, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Coleman. To survive, she leaves one daughter. Mrs. Charles Herb, Spring Glen and two sons Ralph, of Williamstown and Ivan in the Navy in the S Pacific. There are 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren, also one sister and four brothers: Mrs. Samuel Schieb, Lykens; Gurney, of Hegins, R. D; Thomas, Williamsport; Wm. and Oscar, of Middletown.
    Funeral services from her late home Sunday afternoon, with further services in the United Brethren Church, Spring Glen, and interment in the parish cemetery. Rev H. M. Mentzer will officiate. A. R. Buffington Funeral Home in charge.

    Elias D. Artz, aged 75 years, a resident of Spring Glen, near Valley View, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Shadle, Tremont.
    Mr. Artz was a miner by occupation and a member of the United Brethren Church at Sacramento. His wife, nee Mary Schwalm, preceeded him in death twelve years ago.
    He is survived by the following children, Charles Artz, Hegins, Irvin, Elias and Rufus of Spring Glen, Mrs. Frank John, Philadelphia; Mrs. Paul Faust, York; Mrs. Nelson Markel, New Freeland, Mrs. Newton Miller, Gratz; Mrs. Chas.
