Daniel C. Blyler¹

• Daniel C. Blyler was born on 17 October 1851, Schuylkill County, PA.^1,2
• He was the son of Simon Blyler and Carolina Klinger.¹
• Daniel C. Blyler married Adeline Susan Daniel, daughter of George Daniel and Elizabeth Hoffman, on 14 July 1877.¹
• In 1880, Daniel was a hotel keeper in Shenandoah, Schuylkill County, PA, where he was living with his wife "Adda" and daughter Annie.³
• From about 1883 until 1901, Daniel operated the hotel called Union House in Gratz, Dauphin County. After selling the property in 1901, Daniel and his family moved to Reading, Berks County, PA.⁴
• In 1910, Daniel and his family were living on 10th Street in Reading, Berks County, where Daniel was a laborer.⁵
• At the time of the 1920 Census, Daniel and his family were living on Ritter Street in Reading. Daniel apparently was retired by that time.⁶
• In 1930, Daniel, who was then a widower, was living on Ritter Street, Reading, with his 2 unmarried daughters, Anna and Edna.⁷
• Daniel C. Blyler died in 1934.¹

  Born in Lykens, April 26, 1918, he was a son of the late Harry E. and Nina H. Rettinger Blyler.
  He was a 1936 graduate of the former Lykens High School and a 1944 graduate of Penn State University.
  He served in the Army as a Corporal in World War II, receiving five bronze stars and one bronze arrowhead.
  He was employed as a mechanical engineer at the Department of Defense, Washington, D.C., until his retirement.
  He was a member of Trinity, Lutheran Church, Valley View.
  He was also a member of West Palm Beach Governors Club, Old Point Yacht Club, West Palm Beach, Fla., and the Royal Poinciana Chapel Palm Beach.
  He was a widower of Irene E. Starr Blyler. He was preceded in death by a second wife, Edith J. Hanson Blyler, in 1997; two brothers, Paul D. and Ray A. Blyler; a sister, Marie E. Donahue.
  He is survived by a sister, Marjorie L. Anderson, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
  Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, with the Rev. Carl Shankweiler officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Maple Grove Cemetery. Elizabethville Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.
