Miller Rites
Services for Franklin John Miller Sr., 63, of RD2 Hegins, who died Wednesday evening in the Hershey Medical Center, will be held at Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins, on Sunday afternoon. The Rev. Gary F. Koch will officiate. Interment will be in St.John's United Methodist Cemetery, Hegins.
Mr. Miller was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church and served on the church council for some time.
He was born at Pitman April 20, 1916, a son of the late Charles M. and Mamie Hepler Miller.
Surviving are his widow, the former Helen Herb; a son Dr. Franklin J. Miller Jr., of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter Sandra, wife of Ronald Shubert, Elizabethtown; five grandchildren, five sisters, Mrs. Jennie Dunkelberger, Margaret, wife of Warren Artz; Marie, wife of Dr. Joe Conrad; Betty, wife of Ira Koppenhaver and Arlene, wife of Wallace Kimmel; four brothers, Charles, Roy, Leon and Robert, all of Hegins; nieces and nephews.
Before becoming ill, Mr. Miller was employed by Kessler Construction Company of Mount Carmel and later by the Kocher Coal Iompany of Valley View as a shop foreman in the equipment repair department.

Helen V Miller, 95, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Hegins, passed away Saturday at the Masonic Village.
Born in Hegins, Nov. 9, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Harry M. and Dora E. Fisher Herb.
She was a inspector for former Amy Sportswear, Valley View.
She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins.
She was also a life member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union and a member of the Hegins Fire Company Auxiliary.
Helen enjoyed quilting, reading, cooking and spending time with her family.
Her husband, Franklin J. Miller Sr., passed away in 1979.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy and Glenn Herb.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra M. Shubert and her husband, Dr. Ronald, Eliz-abethtown; a son, Dr Franklin J. Miller Jr and his wife, Bonnie, Salt Lake City; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Spatz, Wyomissing; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to Friedens Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 375, Hegins, PA 17938. Condolences can be left for the family at www.buffingtonreed.com.
