- She was the daughter of Jacob S. Klinger and Louisa Alspach.
- Violet Klinger was baptized on 25 May 1847, Zion (Klinger's) Church, Erdman, Lykens Township, Dauphin County, PA.5
- She married Josiah D. Saltzer, son of J. Gabriel Saltzer and Miranda Marianna Osman.6,7
- In 1870, Viollete and Josiah were living in the area around Sacramento, Hubley Township, Schuylkill County, PA, where Josiah was a laborer. They had 2 children.1
- In 1880, Violette and Josiah were living in Tower City, Porter Township, Schuylkill County, PA, where Josiah was a shoe and boot maker. Their household included 6 children. None of those six children were among the 8 Saltzer infants buried at Zion (Klinger's) Church Cemetery in Erdman, Dauphin County, PA.8
- Seven children with the surname Saltzer, all of whom died young, buried in the Klinger's Church Cemetery, are believed to be children of Josiah and Violet (Klinger) Saltzer. In 1870, Josiah and Violet were living in Hubley Township, Schuylkill County (Post office: Sacramento), but in 1880 they were living in Tower City, Porter Township, Schuylkill County. Given their burial at Klinger's Church, it is likely that these 7 children were all born and died before 1880.9,10,11
- In 1900, the widowed Violet Saltzer was head of a household in Minersville, Schuylkill County, PA, that included 7 children. The Census indicates that she had given birth to 18 children, 10 of whom were then living. Ten children were also alive when Violet died in 1907. Her household included 7 of those children: William, "Orson" [Oscar?], Melvina, Claude, Charles, Katie, and Edwin. Her obituary mentions a son "Conrad," but a son of that name has not been identified.12,13
- Violet Klinger died on 13 June 1907, near Klingerstown, Upper Mahantango Township, Schuylkill County, PA, at age 60.6,7

Mrs. Violet Saltzer, aged 60 years, months and 4 days, died suddenly it her home, 241 Wunder street, Thursday morning of paralysis of the heart. She had been in failing health for some time but had not been bedfast more than an hour. Her husband died 10 years ago. Ten children -- Freemont Saltzer, of Pottsville; Mrs. Robert Wagner, Pottsville: Conrad and William J. of Pottsville; Mrs. W. J. Davis, of Philadelphia: Claude, of Easton, and Oscar, Charles, Katie and Edwin Saltzer, all at home, survive, with 11 grandchildren. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Amos Rother mel. She was a member of the Lutheran denomination.
