Harold B. "Hank" Jacoby, 89, of 96 Airport Road, Shippensburg, died at 5:26 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2000, in Chambersburg Hospital.
Born July 8, 1910, in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late Russell and Emma Grace Baker Jacoby.
He was a Protestant.
Mr. Jacoby was retired from Hoffman Mills, Shippensburg, and was a former school bus driver.
He was a well-known local horse trainer, riding instructor and farrier. The highlight of his horsemanship years was in the 1940s, when he showed Aristocrat in Madison Square Garden in New York City, winning the Model Horse of the World Championship.
In his younger years, he played baseball with many local teams, and spent a year as a switch pitcher with the Harrisburg Senators.
A US Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the 1910 Club.
Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline Strohecker Jacoby, whom he married on Sept 19, 1958; a son, Benjamin A of Shippensburg; two daughters, Patricia (Mrs. William) Washinger of Shippensburg and Evelyn G. (Mrs. Scott) Russell of Lexington, Ky; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A sister preceded him in death.
Service will be at 1 1 a.m. Saturday in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., 112 W. King St, Shippensburg. The Rev. Paul Tatum will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg, where members of Shippensburg Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion poets will conduct services.
Visitation will be one hour before the service in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shippensburg Area Little League, in care of Donald Beckenbaugh, 805 Crescent Drive, Shippensburg 17257.

Theresa F. "Tess" Bowers, 85, formerly of Branchdale, passed away Thursday at Orwigsburg Center, Orwigsburg.
Born in Branchdale, Oct. 24, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Leo and Rose Connelly Hart. She was the widow of Martin Bowers.
In addition to her parents and husband, Tess was preceded in death by brothers, Leo, Gerald and Paul Hart; and sisters, Camille Klinger, Dolores Golden and Charlene Coles.
Theresa is survived by a daughter, Deborah, wife of Dennis Somers, Friedensburg; son, Martin, husband of Eileen Bowers, Middleport; brother, James Hart; sisters, Rosemary Dougherty and Margaret Hudock; grandchildren, Kyle and Andrew Somers, Jonathan and Jason Bowers; and greatgrandchildren, Kyler, Ryder, Braxton, Maclin and Natalie.
A religious funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, with the Rev. Adam C. Sedar officiating. Friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation at 9 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service. Interment will be in Union Cemetery Schuylkill Haven. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in to Hillside SPCA. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, is entrusted with arrangements.
