Brackney, PA - MaryLou Byerly, 82, of Brackney, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. She was born on November 7, 1937 in Altoona, PA to the late Joseph Eldon and Mabel Gladys (Creighton) Matlock.
MaryLou is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dennis C. Byerly; 3 daughters, Debra (Gary) Dailey of Centre Hall, PA, Dawn (James) McCrea of York, PA, and Dianne (Leo) Hearst, III of Statesville, NC; son, David (Lorrie) Byerly of Brackney, PA; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Patricia E. Herb of Harrisburg, PA; brother, Scott Matlock of Shippensburg, PA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Matlock and 3 sisters, Ruth Jackman, Barbara Wilkinson, and Gloria Battaglini.
She was a member of and served in a variety of capacities at the Vestal Center UMC. She was an officer of the Greater Binghamton Penn State Alumni Association and the Choconut Garden Club. She was a member of DAR, an active Republican, and served as Judge on the Board of Elections in Choconut. She was a member of the Genealogy Club and was the genealogist for both sides of her family. She also helped with the Vestal Center MYF and remained very active in her church and community all her life.
A funeral will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 4pm at the Vestal Center UMC with Pastor Eric Jensen officiating. Visitation will be from 2-3:45pm prior to the service. Burial and graveside service will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Mill Hall, PA on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Vestal Center UMC, 478 W Hill Rd, Vestal, NY 13850 or Hospice of the Sacred Heart.

Helen Amelia Deibert was born on 7 April 1916, Fearnot, Schuylkill County, PA.1,2 She was the daughter of Irwin Wilson Deibert and Mary Hazel Romberger. In the 1930 Census, Helen was apparently listed twice, once with her parents in Upper Mahantongo Township, Schuylkill County, PA, and once as living with her aunt and uncle, Gertrude Romberger and Charles D. Schaffer, in Jordan Township, Northumberland County, PA.3,4 Helen Amelia Deibert married Lawrence Woodrow Byerly, son of Isaac Theodore Byerly and Tamie Ubella Erdman, on 21 April 1935, Lutheran Parsonage, Herndon, Northumberland County, PA.5,4,6 Helen Amelia Deibert died on 11 October 1995, Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg, Dauphin County, PA, at age 79.7,8

Helen A. Byerly, 79, of West Market Street, Gratz, died Wednesday morning in the Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg, where she had been a patient since Oct. 5.
Born in Feamot, April 7, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Irwin W. Deibert and Mary Romberger Deibert. She was a 1934 graduate of the former Herndon High School.
She was a retired employee of the Piper Aircraft at Lock Haven, where she previously resided for 40 years until retiring in 1978, when she moved to Gratz.
She was a member of Simeon Lutheran Church, Gratz, a former member of the Gratz Historical Society and the Gratz Senior Citizens. She was an active member of the garden club while living in Lock Haven.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence W. Byerly, who died April 30, 1988. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mabella Shade, who died in 1992, and Fae Willier, who died in 1993; a brother, Irwin W, Deibert Jr., who died in 1937; and a grandson, Jeffrey Cole, who died in 1988.
Surviving are a son, Dennis Byerly, RR2 Brackney; a daughter, Elaine Cole, Tavares, Fla; a sister, Lillian Erdman, Mechanicsburg; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Simeon Lutheran Church. The Rev. Barry Ridge, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Erdman, RD1 Lykens. Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, RD1 Klingerstown, is in charge of arrangements.

Lillian Alice Romberger was born on 30 September 1891, Fearnot, Schuylkill County, PA.2,3 At the time of the 1910 Census, Lillian was single and living with her parents in Upper Mahantongo Township, Schuylkill County, PA. She was a school teacher.4 She married Moses Richard Leitzel after 1910.4 At the time of the 1920 Census, Lillian and her husband Richard Leitzel were living in Upper Mahantongo Township, Schuylkill County, PA, where Richard was a rural mail carrier. Their household included 2 children.5 Lillian Alice Romberger died on 6 September 1974, Myerstown, Lebanon County, PA, at age 82.6

Surviving are three sons, Roy of Myerstown RD4, Ford and Paul Leitzel both of Klingerstown; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Irvin Deibert and Mrs. Anna Treas, both of Klingerstown, and Mrs. Gertrude Shaffer, Doctor's Convalescent Home, Selinsgrove.
The funeal [sic] service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Michael's Church, Klingerstown. The Rev. Robert Eastlack, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Lawrence E. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown RD, after 6 p.m. Sunday, and at the church Monday after 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
