    He was born April 5, 1938, in Danville, Pa., a son of the late Harry II and Madeline (Troutman) Adams. He was married to the former Lucille A. Witkoski.
    He was a graduate of Shamokin High School and the University of Maryland.
    Mr. Adams served in the Navy for 22 years. He retired as a Russian linguist for the federal government.
    He was a member of American Legion Post 60, Laurel.
    Surviving are two sons, Michael Adams of Burtonsville and Scott Adams of Eldersburg; one daughter, Susan Bryan of Stewartstown, Pa; two grandsons, Joseph and Nicholas; and two brothers, Robert Adams of Florida and Richard Moser of Conestoga, Pa.
    Visitors may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, Pa.
    A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington, Pa., by the Rev. Timothy Reichard.
    In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 101, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

    SHAMOKIN — Elizabeth (Scandle) Pufnock, 95, of 638 Bear Valley Ave., passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Hershey Medical Center, with her loving family by her side.
    She was born May 22, 1919, in Shamokin, a daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Bowman) Scandle.
    On Aug. 20, 1936, she married George "Duke" Pufnock, who preceded her in death Oct. 22, 1987.
    She was a member of Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church, Shamokin.
    Betty enjoyed being a homemaker, and all the happy times spent with her large family.
    Shortly before her passing, she celebrated her 95th birthday with her family and friends.
    She will be greatly missed by her loving family.
    Survivors include five children, Theresa Paul and her husband, Raymond, of Pottstown, George R. Pufnock and his wife, Pattie, of Birdsboro, Michael J. Pufnock and his wife, Susan, of Fairfax, Va., David F. Pufnock and his wife, Sue, of Elysburg, and Stephen D. Pufnock and his wife, Kathy, of Pottstown; 14 grandchildren, Debra Von Alst, Daniel Paul, Mark Pufnock, Thomas Pufnock, Lalonnie Pufnock, Paula Cribben, Amy Fetgatter, Lindsay Nye, Kaitlyn Pufnock, Christine Beck, John Pufnock, Tracy Beach, Jeffrey Pufnock and Matthew Pufnock; 21 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Byrley, of Baltimore, Md., and Roberta Jasper, of Shamokin; a brother, Frank Scandle Jr., of Swarthmore, and nieces and nephews.
    In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Frank Pufnock, who died in a tragic mining accident in 1957, and four brothers, Joseph, Edward, John and James Scandle.
    PUFNOCK — Elizabeth (Scandle) Pufnock, 95, of 638 Bear Valley Ave., Shamokin. Divine liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church, Shamokin. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Coal Township. Viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Stephen A. Chowka Funeral Home, 114 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church, 303 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin 17872.

    SHAMOKIN - George Pufnak, 71, of 638 Bear Valley Ave., died Thursday in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He had been ill for three months, being hospitalized several times at Geisinger.
    Born in Shamokin Dec. 28, 1915, he was a son of the late George and Tessie (Seamon) Pufnak. He married the former Elizabeth Scandle in 1936.
    Mr. Pufnak was a miner at Glen Burn Colliery and was also an independent miner. He had also worked as a millwright for the Dana Corp., Pottstown. He retired in 1978.
    He had lived in Shamokin for most of his life, living in Pottstown for four years. He served in the Marines during World War II.
    He was a member of Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church, Shamokin; Sunflower Club, where he previously served as treasurer and vice president; president; Knights of Columbus; Shamokin Senior Action Center; and a life Shamember of the West End Fire Company.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Mrs. Theresa Paul, George Jr. and Stephen, all of Pottstown, Michael of Burke, Va., and David of Shamokin; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Tessie Troutman of Shamokin; and two brothers, Frank of Shamokin and Lucas of Pottstown.
    Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Monday in Shamokin.
