Elizabeth I. (Bette) Dietrich, 83, of Klingerstown and a resident of Friendly Nursing Home passed away Wednesday, January 8th, at the Friendly Home.
Elizabeth was born in Frackville, PA on January 19, 1930, daughter of the late Howard and Mary (Starr) Maurer.
She worked as a factory worker for various local factories and last worked as a cook at the Friendly Home in Pitman.
She was a member of Salem Church of Rough and Ready.
She was also a member of the Daughters of American Revolution, Woodmen of the World of Pitman, was active with Mahantongo Helping Hands and local Boy Scouts and 4-H Groups and was a member of the Klingerstown Fire Company and an officer with the IGLWU Union.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter H. "Junior" Dietrich, who died on August 14, 2007.
Elizabeth is survived by three daughters, Donna, wife of Harold Zimmerman, of Pitman, PA; Dianne E. Park, of IN; Denise E. Dietrich, of Sacramento, PA; a son, Donald E. Dietrich, of Klingerstown; a brother, Ronald "Ketser", husband of Patty Maurer, of Klingerstown, 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Maurer who was lost at sea in WWII, and an infant daughter.

Walter H. Dietrich, 82, Klingerstown
KLINGERSTOWN -- Walter H. "Junior" Dietrich, 82, of 29 Hoffman Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, at the Manor at Susquehanna Village, Millersburg, where he had been a patient for two weeks.
He was born in Lykens on Aug. 19, 1924, a son of the late William and Mary (Hartman) Dietrich. On Aug. 24, 1947, he married the former Elizabeth "Bette" Maurer, who is a patient at the Manor at Susquehanna Village, Millersburg.
He was a graduate of Hubley Township High School.
Walter was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy.
He was employed as an electrician and maintenance man, first by the former Penn Dye, Pine Grove, and last by Michael Foods Inc., Klingerstown, retiring in 2003.
Walter was a member of Salem United Church of Christ Church, Klingerstown, Woodmen of the World Lodge, Camp 433, Pitman, the Gratz Veterans of Foreign Wars of Lykens Township, the Klingerstown Fire Police and the Klingertown Fire Company, where he had served as a past president, treasurer and trustee. He had served as an emergency medical technician on the Mahan-tongo Valley Ambulance of Pitman for many years.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and helping others in the community.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Donna and Harold Zimmerman of Pitman, Dianne Park of Monrovia, Ind., and Denise Dietrich of Klingerstown; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Karen Dietrich of Klingerstown; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Dietrich and Pauline and Ivan Klinger, all of Valley View, Esther Garrett of Chesapeake, Va., Ruth and Elvin Koppenhaver of Sacramento and Marian and Raymond "Bud" Bowman of Millersburg; one brother, George Dietrich of Sacramento; and one brother-in-law, Ronald Maurer and his partner, Patricia Drumheller, of Klingerstown.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1949 and a sister, Mary Dietrich.
A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, followed by a memorial service at 8, at the Salem UCC Church, Klingerstown, with the Rev. Mark Rothermel officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 16 N. Fourth St., Minersville, PA 17954.
