    James Monroe Artz, age 73, of Hegins, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024.
    He was born on Thursday, May 31, 1951, in Lykens, a son of the late Albert "Pat" Artz and the late Mary (Byerly) Artz.
    James was a 1969 graduate of Tri-Valley High School.
    He retired from Hershey Foods.
    James spent the majority of his retirement with his children and grandchildren playing the role as their "Enrichment Officer" as he liked to call it. They were his greatest joy in life. Whether it was watching sporting events, taking them to where ever they wanted, or pool days. He loved the outdoors, cooking, baking, and sports. Everywhere he went, he would strike up a conversation with anyone and everyone. He enjoyed making people laugh and could always put a smile on your face. He will be incredibly missed by his family.
    He is survived by two daughters, Melissa A (Gregory) Nye of Hegins and Nikki L Buchanan of Hegins; two sons, Timothy J Artz of Hegins and Tyler A (Madison) Artz of Poquoson, VA; grandchildren, Reese, Slater, Harlie, Shea, Maddix, Alec, and Emilia; his beloved dog Diesel; sister, Sharon E Strause of Hegins; and two nephews.
    Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
    Memorial contributions can be made to Tri-Valley Community Pool, c/o Linda Morgan, 655 Gap Street, Hegins PA 17938.
