Miles Erdman was born circa 1913.1,2 He was the son of Howard Homer Erdman and Bessie Margaret Williams.1,2 Several of the newspaper articles reporting on the death of Howard Erdman state that Howard's body was found by, among others, his 12-year-old son Miles Erdman. Whether this is correct is difficult to say. Howard had a brother named Miles who would have been about 27 years old when Howard died, but other evidence for a son named Miles is lacking. Two obituaries for Howard say that when he died he was survived by a one-year old son, who was not named. Howard and Bessie had a stillborn son earlier that year, in June, 1925, but he clearly was not among Howard's survivors .Unless the reference in the obituary to the son who survived is a reference to Miles, giving the wrong age, other evidence for Miles as a son of Howard has yet to be located.3,4,2,1
