Oscar A. Starr, 88, Klingerstown, died yesterday morning in the home of a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Schlegel, Valley View, where he was recuperating from a cerebral hemorrhage with which he was stricken 18 days ago.
A son of the late Peter and Mary (Herb) Starr, the late area resident was born in Ashland, December 4, 1868. A retired farmer, he was a member of Eureka Lodge 260, I. O. O. F., Leck Kill, and an active member of Salem Reformed Church and Sunday School, Klingerstown R. D.
Mr. Starr was married to the former Miss Fronie Knorr, who died in 1941.
Surviving are six sons, Gurney, Klingerstown; Guy, Sunbury; Charles, Womelsdorf; Whalen, Dalmatia; Lee, Elizabethville, and Eugene, Hegins R. D. 1; five daughters, Mrs. Elura Erdman, Mrs. Alpha Klinger and Mrs. Samuel Schlegel, Valley View; Mrs. Whalen Erdman, Lykens, and Mrs. Elsie Fetterolf, Washington, D: C; one brother, Samuel, Valley View; two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Bair, Pittsburgh, and Mrs. Francis O. Schadel, Klingerstown R. D; 38 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:00 in Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown R. D. Further services will be held at 2:00 in Salem Reformed Church. Rev. John Yarborough, pastor of Salem Reformed Church; will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from tomorrow evening until time of services.

     Elizabeth Sophronia Knorr is also referred to as Fronie in some sources. She was born on 29 July 1872, Rough and Ready, Schuylkill County, PA.1 She married Oscar Adam Starr, son of Peter Geist Starr and Mary Magdalene Herb, on 4 January 1891.3 Elizabeth Sophronia Knorr died on 3 January 1941, at age 68.2 Some sources record that Elizabeth Sophronia Knorr died on 1 March 1941.1

PETER G. STARR
Peter G. Starr, 82 years, 1 month and 15 days old, a resident of Rough and Ready, died Sunday, June 7th, at 3 P. M. Death was caused by complication of diseases and old age. Mr. Starr was ill for thirteen weeks. He lived all his life in Rough and Ready, and his parents were Peter Starr and Maria (nee Glest). He was born on April 23, 1843, In Northumberland ounCty, and was married to Mary M. Herb, Sept. 1, 1867, by Rev. John C. Schmidt, at Mahanoy. He is survived by the following: Oscar A., of Rough and Ready; John A. and Irvin E., of Shamokin; Samuel of Valley View; Gabriel E., of Newton, Kansas; Lizzie Hepler of Hepler; Sadie Bair of Greensburg, and Mrs. Mary Stiely at home. Mr. Starr was a member of Salem's Reformed Church. Rough and Ready, and also a member of the Odd Follows. Eureka Lodge No. 260, and charge of the funeral services. The funeral services, were held on Thursday morning, June 11, at 10 o'clock. Revs. Beam and Fetterolf officiating. Burial was made in the Rough and Ready cemetery. Mr. Starr was a member of the Heavy Artillery, Nos. 188 and 122 Pennsylvania.
