Mary Jane Runkle
Mary Jane Runkle, 70, of School Street, Spring Glen, died Wednesday at her home. She had been in in health since August 1996.
Born in Valley View, Aug. 11, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Gurney and Mary Schadel Schwalm. She was a 1944 graduate of Hubley Township High School.
She had worked for a short time at a Gratz factory.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ Church, Sacramento, where she sang on the choir for more than 50 years and was a member of its Women's Guild.
A daughter, Sharon Sue Runkle, died in 1964, and a brother Wilson Schwalm, died Feb. 14, 1993.
Surviving are her husband, James L., whom she married on Feb. 9, 1945; two sons, Gary L., Fairport, N.Y., and Robert D., Spring Glen; three daughters, Gail P. Dallen, Woolrich, Cindy A. Gross, Ellicott City, Md., and Linda C. Brosius, RR1 Dornsife; two sisters, Catherine Warfield, Tower City, and Emma Stokes, Valley View; three brothers, Mark Schwalm, Lykens, and George and Frank Schwalm, both of Valley View; 10 grand- children; 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul's UCC, Sacramento. The Rev. Ruth Mary Summy will officiate.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
