     Walter Franklin Umholtz was born on 23 May 1900, Gratz, Dauphin County, PA.2 He was the son of William P. Umholtz and Catherine M. Thomas.1 Walter Franklin Umholtz married Sadie Ruth Erdman, daughter of Ira Irvin Erdman and Mary Alta Boyer, on 12 February 1960, Salem Lutheran Church, Elizabethville, Dauphin County, PA.3 Walter Franklin Umholtz died on 21 January 1981, Lutheran Village, Millersburg, Dauphin County, PA, at age 80.1,4

Walter Umholtz
GRATZ - Walter Umholtz, 80, formerly of Gratz, died Wednesday in Lutheran Village, Millersburg.
He was a member of Simmeon United Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sadie Greenwood Umholtz; two daughters, Mrs. Bruce Huntzinger of Mechanicsburg and Mrs. Bruce Bryan of Camp Hill: a brother, Dr. Clayton of Elizabethville; six grandchildren, a niece and two nephews.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Simmeon United Lutheran Church. The Rev. Merlin 0. Sjoberg will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Gratz.
Friends may call at the church Monday from 10 a.m. until time of services.

     William P. Umholtz was born on 4 July 1865.2,3 Some sources record that William P. Umholtz was born on 4 April 1865, Gratz, Dauphin County, PA.1 He married Catherine M. Thomas, daughter of Edward Thomas and Elizabeth Hoffman, on 12 January 1889.1,3 William P. Umholtz died on 7 January 1923, Gratz, Dauphin County, PA, at age 57.1,2 He was buried on 10 January 1923, at Gratz, Dauphin County, PA.2

FUNERAL
On Sunday, Jan. 7th about 11.30 A. M., Wm. P. Umholtz of Gratz passed away after a lingering illness. He was born July 4, 1866 and was baptized the same year and confirmed in youth as a member of the Reformed church at Gratz. He was married Jan. 12, 1889 to Katie M. Thomas by the Rev. W. G. Engle. This union was blessed with 9 children 6 sons and 3 daughters, 2 sons and 3 daughters are living. His age was 57 years, 7 months and 3 days. All the services were held at the house by his pastor, the Rev. C. P. Wehr: John Miller, undertaker.
