Mark M. Kieffer, 94, a life long resident of Dornsife, passed away on December 31, 2023, at the Nottingham Village, Northumberland. He was born in Danville on August 28, 1929, a son of the late Mildred M. and Earl S. Kieffer.
Mark was a member of Himmel's Church, Dornsife where he was a Sunday School teacher and served on the Building Committee in 1959 at the time when the old Church burned down. He was on the 225th Anniversary Committee, and served as Church Council President for many years. Mark was a member of Big Spring Hunting Camp and served on the School Board of Mahanoy Joint. In 1984 he was recognized as a PA Master Farmer. Mark was an avid hunter, he enjoyed reading historical non-fiction books and sharing a good meal with friends and family.
Mark is survived by his wife of 71 years, Velma Kieffer; son, Paul (Gail) Kieffer of Dornsife; daughter, Jean (James) Cutler of South Carolina; sister, Sharon (Richard) Kauffman of Dornsife; grandchildren, Alexander, Dustin, Vanessa and Victoria; great-grandchildren, Reese and Jackson. He was preceded in death by brother in law, Bruce Hass, sister, Margaret Hass.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 9:00am to 11:00am at Himmel's Church, Dornsife. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am at Himmel's Church, Dornsife. Interment will take place in the Himmel's Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Himmel's Church Memorial Fund.2
