  James T. Rowland Sr., 83, of 331 Main St., Lavelle, passed away Monday at Mount Carmel Senior Living Center, Mount Carmel.
  Born in Gordon, March 25, 1929, he was a son of the late Anna Rebecca Bechtel Trommetter.
  He served as a corporal in the Army during the Korean War.
  He was married to the former Theresa Swoyer, who survives him.
  James had worked as a mechanic for many years at Dunlap Garage, Mount Carmel, and last worked as a supervisor in plastic extruding at Cadillac Cable and Gerwain Chemical.
  He liked to hunt and fish and enjoyed going to yard sales.
  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina Rowland; and a sister, Ester Arnold.
  Survivors include his wife, Theresa; three children, James Jr. and his wife, Mary, Mount Carmel, Renae Knorr and her husband, Ray, Hegins, and Ruby Berger and her husband, James, Fountain Springs; grandchildren, Kimberly Duceman, Jamie Rowland III, Duane Knorr, Krista Jusinski, Ashley Berger and James Berger III; and five great-grandchildren.
  Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Willard A. Rothermel Funeral Home. The Rev. Joan Brown will officiate. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Lavelle. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

  — TREVORTON — Clayton E. Bartholomew, 79, of 101 E. Market St., passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
  He was born Aug. 10,1931, in Rockefeller Township, a son of the late Herbert and Grace (Thomas) Bartholomew. On Sept. 27, 1985, he married the former Janice M. Klinger, who survives. He was a lifetime resident of Trevorton.
  Clayton served in the Army during the Korean War from Jan. 7, 1949, to Sept. 2, 1952.
  Clayton retired from Wilhold Co., Sunbury, as a mechanist.
  He was Protestant. He was a life member of Trevorton American Legion Post 92, where he was very active and a past commander, and Trevorton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7813.
  Clayton enjoyed camping and spending time outdoors.
  In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Clayton R. Bartholomew, of Trevorton, and Paul and Tina Bartholomew, of Marion Heights; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred Knoebel, of Sunbury, Shirley Mull, of Selinsgrove, and Joyce Heimbach, of Snydertown; two brothers, Robert Bartholomew, of Snydertown, and Paul Bartholomew, of Northumberland; and nieces and nephews.
  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Franklin Bartholomew and Herbert Bartholomew Jr.
  A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Malcolm L. Derk officiating.
  Burial with military honors will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Clayton’s memory may be made to the Veterans Memorial Fund, 527 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, PA 17881.
